What would you do if Toyota purchased your tacoma back for problems?

Buy another Tacoma? Hope you don't have the same issues?

Buy another truck, perhaps tundra? Though 14 gallons per mile is not appealing at all.

How about a 4 runner? However then you lose the bed.

Well considering I tried this and Toyota refuses to honor any warranty or complaints with any serious effort or concern, I'd say nothing, because it'll never happen.

Toyota is their own biggest fan, and much like some of the people on this forum, the minute you say theirs and issue with their product they get super defensive and deny any and all causes or symptoms and say it's perfectly fine.

Solid option, however if the tacoma was financed originally, the money may not be there to buy them. Considering the values held in both tacoma and 4 runner.

So Toyota steps up, aknowdges the error of the truck, issues a buy back, and you a want an f150? I would have to disagree. Ford would not buy back so easily. Toyota imo, has better customer support, you disagree?

I strongly disagree with Toyota's customer service. It has been absolutely horrible for me. Corporate could even see to it that I got a rental for the 5 weeks my truck was in the shop the first time, because it wasn't "warranty" because they refused to admit or look into their being a problem and blamed me... Same thing happened for the second and third times the incident happened.

Going to have to agree with @AFMurse2014 toyotas customer service has been pretty crappy towards me. I've had no mechanical issues so far, but I've had several quality control issues (sunroof not aligned, paint defects, door panels not aligned) and they were very abrasive about fixing the issues that were clearly there. They also have refused to give me a loaner car while having my vehicle for a few days. I love my truck, but of the coworkers, friends and people I know with the new 16+ f150's they've had zero issues so far. Also the local ford dealership has amazing reviews and I've been to them to test drive cars/trucks I've considered buying and they've given me the best experience of any dealership I've been too.

Are you talking about your dealership or corporate? Dealerships range all over the place and some really are terrible but they are not run by Toyota so unless you're dealing with the factory then it may be a dealer problem. They are supposed to be your advocate but my experience is they are usually looking out for themselves and even down to an individual person at the dealership it can vary. A really good parts guy, a terrible mechanic, etc.

It's been both not just the dealership.

However I found a service advisor 2 weeks ago who's not a dick, attentive and makes sure the techs don't fuck my truck up when they have it. So that's cool.

Also, don't think I'm defending Toyota because they can be just as bad as any other manufacturer. I'm a fan of Toyota but my patience is wearing out. I will say though that you'd never have seen Ford, GM or Dodge replacing frames or buying back trucks at all. You also have to be fair, Toyota can't just buy back every truck from someone who is at all unhappy because that would be a nightmare of anal retentive people seeing a little rust and thinking their trucks deserve to be replaced. It would open a flood gate if they didn't take the initial position that they do.

Not to be personal, but it really sounds like you and your dealer are just having a bad relationship, perhaps it's time to find another one. Mine gives me free loaners whenever they have to keep my truck over 1 day, even when they did repairs on my 1st gen, and I didn't even buy it from them!

Anyways, to answer the topic question- Id buy another Tacoma because I want a medium size 4x4 that can tow my trailer- 4runners are nice, [Edit: I may have bought another one this year instead of the Tacoma, but we changed our mind as ] they don't tow as much as a Tacoma with a tow package.

Eh, I found a good service advisor and I'm going to discuss a loaner vehicle when I bring in it in next weekend. Hopefully they take care of all the cosmetic issues for me.
