I came from a Mazda cx5. Toyota should be embarrassed with how shitty they implemented Atkinson. The skyactiv powertrain is butter smooth. It's also infinitely variable cam timing rather than the stepped in the Tacoma. 50% of the engine load on my Mazda was controlled by the intake cam phaser. The throttle was completely open for minimal losses. I wish Toyota had contracted the powertrain with them.

I think all the good powertrain engineers at Toyota are working hybrid platforms. The B squad did the Tacoma.

Oh, and the skyactiv drive auto was the best auto I have ever driven.

My truck does not feel as powerful with 1.02 as it did with 1.01b it's way smoother but not as powerful feeling.

It probably doesn't feel as powerful because it's delivered smoothly. Your butt cant tell power, it can only feel the timing kicking in.

Did you try ECT in PWR? S mode and shifting at high RPMs?

Been driving last 300 miles on ECT with every gear shifting at 6k. If you dont drive like this with this tune then trade your truck in for a mini van.

It feels good, don't get me wrong. I kinda wonder if I have bad gas. These rednecks caused a shortage around here after Harvey came through and I had to buy gas at a gas station that I imagine does not use alot of premium and they were almost out when I filled my truck up. The truck seemed a little bit off on Thursday and Friday. I'm going to try to run this fuel out and refuel it. I drove to the dealer and had my 20k service done yesterday and then came home and flashed it. But it does feel down on power compared to a few days ago. It is amazeballs smooth. I like others, have had to look down to see if it was still running.

Something that I've noticed with 1.02 is that I can actually gain mph without my RPM jumping around almost at all. Via the tach I can't see a change, so I imagine it is less than 100 RPM.

I like this, but damn I've become so used to the truck jumping I thought something was wrong. Also ECT is fucking beautiful.

I'm considering the mod always on, I'm a bit worried about my mpg though. At highway speeds I've noticed it's almost identical, but acellerating there is a huge difference. Haven't decided if it's worth it to me.
