So I have a question regarding to the off-road capability of the "non" TRD. I have a 2017 SR5 and was wondering is it still capable of going off-road? nothing crazy for sure but just a little trail here and there wont hurt. I have heard that the SR and the SR5 doesn't really have the capability for it but with some mods/upgrade they might be able to run easy trails. as of right now I'm still saving up money but I'm planning to level my truck out using the bilstein 5100 and getting new tires for it. Also, hoping to go to CO for my shore! so if anyone here that are from CO, if y'all have any suggestions for easy trails, please send them links away! thank you!

That's nonsense. You're truck is plenty capable. The off-road package isn't much other than crawl control and a locker. You'll be fine on easy to moderate trails in any taco.

It's a Tacoma sure it's good for trail riding just use common sense if it looks bad turn around. Try not to go out by yourself always have a trail buddy with you.

What he said. You truck is the same ride height, and every bit as capable off road. All you're missing is a couple extras, but those aren't necessary to get out and enjoy yourself

Oh boy, here we go. There are A LOT of variables to consider when lifting your truck. The main one is, what are you willing to spend, including installation if you don't plan on doing it yourself?

    2017 Tacoma OR 4x4 (formerly a 1998 SR5 PU, 2002 OR 4x4, 1995 4x4 4Runner, 1985 4x4 Toy PU) ... and RIP’s (rust in pieces) to a Bronco II 4x4 & S10 Blazer 4x4
All the Gen1's and every 4x4 made by Toyota made before that are locking up their hubs and shifting into low to answer this question. And a stock 2x4's like a Prerunner also has good clearance to go off-road well, just bring a compressor, shovel and towstrap and go with a friend to help each other out. As everyone else is saying here, the answer is definitely yes! That's what all the 4x4's were ever made for (unless it's a Highlander, but we won't talk about foofoo 4x4's here). :)

Throw on a decent set of tires and you're good to go. :)

Are you going to install it yourself? It's not hard if you're even a little mechanically inclined.

He raises a good point. If you have less than 1k to throw at it, buy a good set of tires and forget the lift. A lift doesn't mean squat without traction.

It will off road fine. Bone stock.

Tires will help, 265/75/16 on stock wheels look good.
