Ride height has absolutely nothing to do with the diameter of the wheel. You can run 17" wheels right now if you want.

No worries, I didn't either when I first started out. Stick around as there's a lot of good info out there!

I live in CO and off-road almost weekly in my stock SR, all I've done is tires and fogs. It'll handle any trail I'd consider doing without a highly customized rock-crawler type vehicle.

I've scratched up the paint a bit and I've hit the skids on some nasty rocks. After tires, I'd say the best modifications for out here are skids and sliders.

Truth! Took my SR on the trail to my buddies cabin last weekend, even the half worn stock hankooks did just fine.

Did you put it in 4x4 at all or just powered through in 2wd?

4hi, it was wet and there is a couple steep spots. I paid for 4x4 so I try to use it as much as possible

Right on. I keep debating if I really need 4x4 or not. I've been close to pulling the trigger on either or for the last year or so but I can't make up my mind. I'm in no hurry so I'm taking the time to figure it all out before I fully commit.

Depending on where you're off-roading at, under body armor may be the first thing I'd recommend. After taking my TRD OR to ATR that will be the first thing I do. As others have said though, go with tires first. I have OKAY tires, not radials but not a whole lot better and traction wasn't an issue even when it was pissing the rain.
