haha valid point. depends on the occasion I suppose. its not too often I am required to depart at 5:30, I don't have to get up until 7 for work so getting up at that time isn't something I am use to lol

oh man, 4:30!? that's crazy haha I couldn't imagine doing that! koodos to you tho haha I guess its one of those things, if u do it often enough you get use to it. going to bed early would certainly make it easier.

I suppose if I stayed at my friends house in Perth the Friday night, it would shave 45 mins off the drive. leaving at 6 wouldn't be so bad. how long do you guys plan on spending on the trails?

just a day trip. Really not sure thats up to the other guys. these trails are only like an hour or two away from from where I live so its really not an issue.

And ya its always hard for me when on nights to stay up till 4am. but easy for me to wake up.

nah no rotation. Electrician sometimes the jobs require us to do nights. I try to not do them as much as possible. Actually might not even be working this week at least not until Wednesday. No work on days until then and just can't do nights anymore. Did it a week and it just kills me. And this one was a shit show. 7pm-4:30am. Just hate doing them. So told my boss sorry but I can't. I live in a semi and my neighbors are doing a reno right now so no way I can sleep during the day.

Told him I can sit at home for a few days until something else comes up. Besides I need to go get an oil change done, this will give me some time to do so. I was just asked to do nights last week since there was a huge push on one job. RBC main branch downtown Toronto, wanted all the lights on the high ceiling replaced in one week. So took three of us three nights to do it. There's only a few not done and its because we need a different lift to get to them. But the other guys that are always night shift can do them. I'm usually the day time crew.

I did shut downs at eaton centre back in january same idea 10pm to 10am just replacing all the main motor control units in the main electrical rooms.

I thought I remembered reading on here you were an electrician so I was wondering haha never would have thought that would have involved night shifts but I guess when your working on buildings like that, there are certain things that could only be done at night so it makes sense. I can certainly understand your decision not to do it anymore, it takes quite to toll on your body after a while. my old boss worked nights for his entire career and it screwed up his sleeping like crazy now that hes retired, the poor guy cant sleep a good nights sleep lol sleeps a few hours then hes up for a bit then sleep for a few hours, hes happy if he can sleep 4 hours straight. so day crew is where its at haha sounds like a pretty interesting job you have tho! wish I had finished my schooling to become an electrician, but I was young and dumb and partied too much lol I'm still young but I like to think I am no longer dumb hahaha ended up pulling my shit together, now I'm doing HVAC which is decent, at the moment I'm trying to get my residential AC ticket so I can start moving onto the next step which would be the commercial side so I need my G1 and Refrigeration. after 6 years of residential its time for a new challenge.

I did residential for about 2 years then left. Hated it. Much rather do commercial and industrial.

Certain jobs have to be done outside of business hours. And some jobs too many noise complaints get you put on nights. There's some guys on the night crew that have done it for years. No clue how

fair enough man. just be glad its them doing it and not you I suppose hahaha

I'm lucky that most of our customers are great to deal with but few buddies who do HVAC went to commercial just so they didn't have to deal with crappy customers anymore haha

I got tired of home owners trying it themself and screwing up and not telling me making my job take longer. And worst of all the 'oh can we add this and add that' then when the price changes they're in shock as to why it changed.

 I hear you! and its awesome when they wait until you're done to ask for the extras lol I get that all the time, I spend 10 hours at your house converting you from oil to gas installing a new furnace ac and water heater and as I'm done cleaning up and carrying my tool box out you ask for a new thermostat. :annoyed: I mean it only takes 15 minutes to do, but still, u had all this time to ask! hahaha

anyways haha enough work talk lol do enough of that during the week!
