Alternator seam fine once the car is running i drove it 80 miles and back no problem! And I'm worried the warranty won't cover it the dealer I like to go to is an hour away meaning I got to take at least half a day off work!

    X2 Costco batteries

I read a Consumer Report about batteries a few years ago about them. They were way up in the top 10 available then.

Every vehicle I have put a Kirkland battery in still has that battery and zero issues.

Add distilled water every oil change, if nessessary, and keep on trucking. Disconnect and clean terminals and connectors yearly.

Wait consumer report is worthless. It trashed the new Tacoma so it's no longer a good review source.

Tacomas have group 34 batteries I think? I haven't even really looked at my battery closely yet, only had the truck a few weeks. You pretty much can't go wrong with Die Hard batteries.

didn't know they were in the battery business as well.

But there's a few German companies that make batteries as well.

Pop your hood and look at your battery. It's not a maintenance free battery. You can check the water levels and add some if needed.

probably because they don't expect owners to do it. And a lot of times they say you don't need to service them although they are made serviceable.

Regardless like @Herniator said, go look if you don't believe it.
When I first got it, if I started it to move it out of the driveway quick to get the other car out and then got back in to move it back to the driveway it would hesitate to start. So I checked the levels and added a tiny bit and haven't had an issue since.

Here in Hawaii, the batteries that Costco sells are Interstate. They were the Kirkland ones a few years back but they had changed to Interstate which in my opinion is much better. Also, warranty on the Costco batteries is top notch and easy to get replaced under warranty.

It probably doesn't say it in the manual because there is a chance of getting battery acid on you if you don't know what you are doing.

Sure you may be able to pop the vent caps and add some distilled water. It's not a completely sealed unit. its not common for those batteries to run dry. And if they do, especially in a relative cooler climate you have another issue. Also tampering with it is just another reason for your battery warranty to be void. I'd rather Toyota replace my battery then me continually add distilled water until a cell goes bad and it's out of warranty. And by adding some distilled water yourself good luck trying to get it warrantied if it freezes.

only battery maintance I ever do is put some anti corrosive spray on the terminals. I work for an auto group, getting my battery covered under warranty has never been an issue. Plus most of my vehicles I've bought are new and under base. Only battery I bought was one for my sisters 10 year old rav 4 that froze and cracked
