Trimming ARB bumper for 285/75/16

Has anybody have to trim their ARB bumper to fit the 285 75 16. I've already done my pinchweld CMC is in the works but I believe I am rubbing on the bumper and it's taking chunks out of the tires. I can see where I have worn off paint and I'm curious how people have trimmed or hammered or what they have done to there a ARB. The attached picture is what my tires look like and I cannot find where that's rubbing to causes this. Any advice would be appreciated.

 

That's why I got a hybrid bumper. ARB too bulky for me. You're probably going to have to take it to a fab shop so they can cut that bumper where needed.

 

It came with the truck and i want to just fix it myself. Just curious if anybody has delt with this. Anbody

 

Chances are you're rubbing the cab mount, not the bumper. Maybe try using some chalk on the cab mount, fender, and bumper. Or something similar that would rub off when touched by the tire and also allow it to be washed off easily. This way you can identify exactly where you're rubbing.

 

I'm sure they have. Just cut yourself then. I know mr Grimm had that issue. He just got a new bumper. Yea

 

So I just repainted everything so I can see where I'm rubbing next time I go out. I am just trying to be proactive before my next outing. I know I've seen somebody had to trim I thought

 

A new bumper is completely out of the question if it did not come with the truck I would never have one

 

So I think a better question to ask would-be what is the safest and easiest way to check for clearance issues. When I lifted the truck and put 285s I just did what everybody else is doing by the CMC and pinchweld. I highly doubt I'm rubbing on my CMC for the way the cuts are looking. I think I should just check for clearancing like everybody else does and go from there and I can cut and Hammer and do whatever is necessary once I know where I'm hitting so what's the safest and easiest way

What did you use along the fender after you cut it? never actually saw a link or what was used to clean up the edge or cover the newly cut portion.

 

Take out your coil and shock, cycle the suspension lock to lock.

If that's a question, you can go drive up on a loading dock or something similar. It might be close but not exact.

 

No way to get it on kack stand and use a jack to check. I swear i saw pictures on here once but i was not sure how safe that option is. Thsnks again guys

 

It's called cycling the suspension. Put it on jack stands, take out the coil, use the jack to cycle it.
