It's a shame how quickly we forget. First it was a solemn day where we had moments of silence, then the hurt grew distant enough that we could sort of joke about it in a "screw you, you can't hurt us" kinda way, and now it's just another day.

Jesus, the thought just struck me... 9/11 was a week before my 16th birthday, now it's a week before my 32nd... 9/11 happened essentially half of my entire life ago.

Our social studies teacher turned on the TV just as the second plane hit, and it was just... surreal. It didn't even register to me that it meant 100's of people just died, and that thousands more were going to.:(

Strange, 99% of both my Instagram and FB feeds are 9/11 related.

It seems to only matter to people that had skin in the game. I saw a Korean war vet today and I can't even imagine how he feels about today's generation. I thanked him for his sacrifice and spoke with him for a few.

You can stop in any fire station and get it check. They will also put you on the monitor to look closer at your heart and other vitals. It's free unless they transport you. Even if they push you to go, you don't have to go with them, but if they say go in, go in somewhere.

    Exactly.

My flag dips to no one though. Lowering it to a horizontal pole position isn't always viewed as flying the colors half mast, but I respect your decision to fly it that way knowing where your mindset is.

My flag flies illuminated, 365 days per year unless there are BAD winds. We have a storm flag, but don't want the poles to break during monsoon winds.

Know what really grinds my gears? People who fly the colors only on holidays. If you love America, why not fly them high and proud every day????

Fire/Medic here. Like @Chipskip said, roll on by your local FD station or medic house if they run separate. Do not go to drug store and use those stupid ass blood pressure machines they are horrible. What you are experiencing can range from caffeine issues all the way to something serious, best thing is to get a baseline set of vitals and how you are feeling compared to your medical history then take it from there. I will say though, the second you feel chest discomfort or pain in your head/chest head for the ER.

Funny, that's exactly how I was feeling just before I went in for my emergency aortic aneurysm repair/valve replacement just over three years ago. You might want to have that looked at.

    Yes, I'm in.

Back to flags: my favorite besides the American flag is the Gadsden.

Flags: Came home Friday and notice that my flag had torn. It was taken down and properly folded. New flag is on the way.

Its not hard. If you can operate a shovel for short periods of time, you can do this. I've done mine at my past two houses. Got the pole at a home and garden show.

I fly a flag in front of our house 24/7. Some fuck stole my little solar light one night that I had to illuminate it so now I have to leave the porch light on over night. I usually go through one or 2 a year and drop them off at the BSA office around the corner from me for disposal cuz I remember how cool it was to do that when I was a scout.

Hahah same here. We closed escrow, came and prayed over the house & put the flag up, then went inside.

Haha I do the same usually. Scouts are always good for retiring the flags, if not then i burn them alone in my own fire pit

You can take your flags to VFW, BSA, or even the USPS. I like to take them camping and have my kids help me retire them. I have one of the ceremonies saved and the oldest gets to read it.
