Might be dumbest thing I've ever done...

Okay so I ordered a grill off eBay that is primed and ready to paint, I decided to go all white. So I put a coat on (just one) and then had a sort of work emergency, so I didn't think much of the paint drying, and it did and I went back to finish the next day. I'm using spray paint, paint+primer, that's always worked for me in the past, well I want to put th next coat on (with the other one fully dry) and I was more than halfway done when I realized that when I painted over it the paint had little wrinkles like growing through it literally moving along the surface and I tried to get it off but not a ton of luck. So I used paint stripper and a pressure washer and this is what I'm left with? I want to just paint it? But what do I do? Paint experts help me please.....

 

Wow. You might be screwed. Most paint strippers will melt plastic. Anything you do to fix that will require a ton of hand sanding. Glaze and primer.

 

Fuck, I was hoping maybe I could use laquer thinner or something to get it off, I figured I might be, probably worst thing gone wrong haha

 

not expert but i would sand sand sand until its perfect. then paint. good luck

Sandblast lightly till done.

 

i bet. do they make a mini sand blaster. i have no idea but maybe worth it to see

Or just spray some black textured bed liner on it and go all black.

You can get a sandblast attachment for an air compressor and do it at home (if you have an air compressor). Very cheap.

 

Any pressurized abrasive is going to leave that looking like shit. So will hand sanding.

I'd you don't mind putting filler on top and re-sanding it all smooth again - then sure. But you're in for a lot of work unless you shitcan that and replace it.

 

textured bed liner might be his only option then, and an easy way out to.

Find a white bed liner and then once its done paint it to match with the texture underneath.

 

I used OvenOff and scotch bright to remove the chrome on my headlights and it was fine on the plastic so you could try using that.

 

Any "hot" solvent will melt plastic as well as any solvent based stripper. Sandblasting will pit the plastic. You could try soda blasting, but you're screwed
