Off tonight, but checking in. Gotta stay up late tonight. Start the 16 in a row tomorrow.

Trying to talk myself into working on the drift boat...I don't seem to be listening to myself...

They won the rally. Its a lexus IS350 with a 6 speed swap from another car, behind a 2GR-FSE engine making about 350 at the wheels. and its RWD

I got a buddy of mine that lives in Finland, they take Rally to a whole different level over there. I wish there was more of that stuff here in the States, I love watching it. I'd take that over NASCAR any day of the week.

Speaking of rally, the new 350hp focus rs got my panties in a wad. $36k. Hmmmm.......
That's about what I owe on the scat pack.

Theres a shit ton of Rallies in the Unites States. Rally America, American Rally Association, and NASA Rallysport are the big three that host them all, go goohle them and look at thier event lists, im willing to be theres one within driving distance of you.

the Focus RS is actually kinda meh, they have massive issues with overheating diffs if you really wail on it with lots of wheel spin, and the factory tune is right on the bleeding edge of the motor, so theres been a lot of failures from people who push them hard on a regular basis.

Probably not any different than other cars that advertise that they were built to be pushed.
Tons of people in my scat pack club track em.
Tons of people end up with blown diffs, diff howling, snapped half shafts, etc.
Warranty will cover it in stock form but the dealer will damn sure look for tell tale signs of you running drag radials, altered ecm/pcm, etc.
I mean, they advertise them to be abused.
Look at the dodge demon. That's a full factory warrentied drag strip car.

yup. its more suprising that ford put the tune right on the bleeding edge of failure, instead of backing it off and going for say, 300hp and have the motor not explode after a season of track days.

Right. 300 would have still been pretty fun at that weight ratio. I wonder what's failing? And if anyone has put a fully forged motor together.

These guys did 282hp on a dyno. Factoring in 15% drive line loss...thats only 324hp. Where's the other 26hp? They did get 377 ft/lb though. Still a nice number.

from what ive heard it appears to be bearing failures resulting from overheated oil or piston failures due to detonation. the oil issue has been a problem for the focus since the Zetech engine, and hasn't gotten any better. the piston failures are mostly due to the tuning, with a few from idiots putting 87 octane in and going to the strip.

the 15% driveline loss IIRC only applies to a slushbox, a manual gearbox should be much less.

Yes. 10-12 manual is what they calculated when mine was on the dyno. 440whp + 11% = 488. (Advertised at 485hp)
    12-15 slushbox.
