    TW Peeps,

Need advice from someone that has had both the Toyo R/Ts and the Nitto Ridge Grapplers.
Issue: Nitto does not make tires that fit the TRD Pro rims, so I would have to swap rim/tires out; looking at either doing that or keeping the TRD Pro rims and going with Toyo R/Ts.

    Things I know/things I need:
    1. Toyo & Nitto are the same company and have similar aggressive treads
    2. They are considered "hybrid" tires
    3. I go off road occasionally, but will mainly be highway and street with the occasional mudding trip or going off road to maneuver, etc. in various conditions.

Please let me know your thoughts on Pros/Cons of each and what your experiences have been. I'm looking for a good looking tire, that is durable and lasts a while. Thanks for the help!

    ~Pete

Those are both my two tire choices as well. I'm running 17 inch wheels so I'm gonna go with the nitto RG in C load range rating. The RT in my size only comes in a E load range rating , that kind of made the decision. I think they're both very good.

Does the Pro not have 17" wheels? (Sorry, I honestly don't know) I know my Sport does..

Because the Ridge Grapplers come in a LT265/70R17.. although it is an E load.. they don't come in a C unless you go up to 285s, according to the web page.

Just got the OC RT's on 17's and really like the tread pattern, right in between the AT and the MT. There's a bit a tire noise I experienced after putting these tires on but nothing like the MT's. What size are you looking to go up to on the stock 16's?

Unfortunately, they're 16" which is odd since the others are 17".....looking at going 285/70/16s for Toyos or 285/75/18s in the Nittos...

Agreed. I like the Ridge Grapplers b/c of the ride and durability. I had Terra Grapplers in the past and they dry rotted when I moved from Cali to Alabama.

Thanks for the input! I asked the guy at the truck shop and he has had a lot of problems with KO2s. I know a lot of Pro guys have them, but I'm getting mixed reviews. Trying to stick between these two brands. I'll post pics when the build out is done! Thanks.

I just got Nitto RG 265 70 65 for my Sport and I like them so far. They are fairly quiet and the ride isn't that much worse for 10 ply tires.

Thanks! I want them, but would need to switch rims out on the TRD Pro (16" rims). I have some XD Hoss 2 rims picked out, but will wait until the Toyos are worn out and will switch then. Thanks for the pics, I'm jealous of the tires!!!

what ply are the Toyos and Nittos and what's the difference in C vs. E class rating? I know it has to do with load capacity, etc. -- not sure why this is important...thanks for the help!

Depends on what size, load/ ply's depend on your size. Go here type your size tire. Do some researching. C is all a mid size truck like a taco would need! E is designed for bigger trucks to carry stuff and work hard. E is really tough and will withstand objects like rocks. E is heavier and is a 10 ply tire, c is a 6 ply tire. "Ply" is a layer of metal wires and rubber that makes up a tire!
