What improvements can people see with stock injectors/ no sc with just the ecu flashed ?

    Interesting topic

I still get a weird vibe. It's been impossible to crack for so many years. OP just makes it seems like no big deal and doesn't offer anything that's very substantial to inspire confidence. I mean people have burnt and swapped out ROM chips before. But I'm not sure that what we're talking about here. Did you personally break the encryption that allows you to modify the ECU? Can you crack the transmission ECU the same way? I'd pay large dollars if you can tune my trans ECU.

Generally a "high octane tune" would require you to run high octane fuel all the time but would allow a bunch of timing advance which should allow quite a bit of power increase across the board. Perhaps a little fuel mileage too but would be negated by having to run more expensive fuel. The AFRs could potentially be leaned out a bit in open loop to gain a little more power as well. These are general improvement made from tuning an NA motor.

For the cost of the tune the benefits of power are minimal though...

Think I'd rather throw the money into a SC and injector kit

unichip still offers a pnp tuner for these trucks. I remember the sts turbo kits came with one.

The sts kit just came with a vacuum fuel regulator deal. Was super crude way to do it but it does work to a point. Not great though

I'd be curious to see if he could tune the ecu for boost. Not sure how it would work since we don't have map sensors and the ecu doesn't see boost. And not sure how he could implement closed loop enrichment without modifying signals. Perhaps he could make it go in to open loop sooner since it seems to take a lot to get these engines into open loop. But my piggyback seems to do the job for now. This seems like more of a NA type of deal.

Okay guys here's the jist of what's inside the ECU pretty much:
    - Sensor scaling
    ETC / IAT / MAF
    - Ignition
    Base map
    Corrective maps
    Idle
    Compensations
    - Fuel
    Target fuel
    Rev limits
    DTC
    some Transmission stuff possible
