I would like to point out that I posted it in the 3 most active threads and 2 of the 3 had active political discussion going at the time...it was a preemptive reminder, and you and I both know that's all it was

I post that reminder regularly when things start getting out of hand

If you have an issue with me keeping politics out of this sub forum then we need to have further discussion via PM

Now about the leaving the policing to those with badges comment, I gave a decade of my life to wearing a badge and a gun, and I've dedicated an awful lot of my time to Bob to help keep this forum free of crap...he selected me to help maintain order here and deal with the very few rules we have

I didn't ban anyone, didn't even reply ban anyone from a thread, or even specifically quote anyone with my post of the reminder

I'll make sure next time I'll just remove the posters causing the issue instead of reminding everyone that it's not allowed

Can't say I've heard of that. What exactly do you mean? Because of barrel diameter? Trying to install with the gas block? Fitment to the receiver itself?

I bought a Ghost Arms free float hand guard. The barrel nut that it came with won't fit over the barrel to bolt it down. The I.D. is probably 1mm to small. I'm gonna throw it on a lathe a take a small amount of material off to make it fit over the barrel I have. Literally just a little sanding should do the trick.

I don't think they're around right now due to the hurricane.

I'm not sure what the difference is, 1mm is just an uneducated guess. A lathe and a file would make short work of the difference though.

This is my first AR build, so I didn't know if this happened a lot of what. I have to say, I was pretty surprised when it it wouldn't fit on. It's a steel barrel nut, so I don't think taking a little off will matter much. It's just so it can fit over the barrel. Shouldn't affect any clamping force on the barrel and other than that it just holds the hand guard.

The barrel is a Spinta Precision stainless 9mm barrel. It installed on my Aero Precision upper just fine.

So I had to remove at least 1mm of steel to get the barrel nut to fit over the barrel. I'm happy I have access to a lathe. No way would that have fit without machining. Not sure if it's the barrel or the barrel nut that's the issue. The barrel was not cheap, so I doubt it's out of spec.

I would tend to agree! How did your ranch fit on the nut?

It used a kinda strange size. 30mm. Making it difficult to properly torque it down.

Hand guard looks good though. I'll post some pics later on. It's a pretty basic design, nothing special. You get what you pay for, I didn't want to drop $150 on a 7" hand guard and I have the means of modifying something to make it work anyway, so I can't really complain.

That was my plan B! I figure if I F'ed it up, I'd just buy another. Was like an hour of farting around on the lathe and it was nice out plus I was committed to making the damn thing work haha!

Here's the hand guard installed. Looks pretty good. Check out that compensator, it threads on over the muzzle break.

Hello all! Thought I'd share my AR-15 buying experience! I bought my riffle before the CA (AR15 ban *so to speak*). Originally I was to buy a Ruger AR15; however, I had a weird feeling after holding it, I noticed it was all plastic and not what I was looking for.. (not trying to be disrespectful to any owner of this gun, I've never shot it and have no experience with the Ruger AR and I am sure it is a solid platform).

Ended up going down the street to my local gun range for some target practice(who also sells guns and doubles as a gun smith too!) & saw this beauty sitting on the wall and knew I needed it! The company who makes the riffle I bought is called Juggernaut Tactical (https://jtactical.com/) . They are located here in Orange, the city I was born in, how fitting..!

Below is my Juggernaut JT-15 (5.56 NATO) paired with a Trijicon TA31-R-ACSS reticle. I even did the para-cord weave seen on the butt-stock

    Future Addons:
    Sure-Fire Light
    LaRue Mount
Scope Kill Flash (not sure why I need this, but someone has convinced me I do)

E/ The picture with the 2x30 rnd mags is before all the CA laws/restrictions, fear not
