    If I had a 3rd gen that was bought back then I would probably look at what I am looking at right now: the 3rd gens, 4Runners, or a Lexus IS350 :drool:

    Buy a Ford F-150. I've had several new and used cars over the years. Two of them have been Tacomas. First Tacoma was a 1st gen that had the head gasket problem. They changed it under warranty but truck never ran good after that and I traded it immediately. Skip ahead through 2 Broncos, a couple of BMW's, a couple of Honda's, a 4Runner, an F-250 (and a few I can't remember at the moment) and I find myself with a new 3rd gen Tacoma. Everyday I ask myself why I just didn't stick with Ford. I'll never buy a new Toyota again. I've been disapointed with both brand new Tacoma's but I did like the new 4Runner. Would I take an offer for Toyota to buy back my 3rd gen? In a heartbeat!

    Yes I've been tempted to look at the Fords too. They really have come around on exterior styling and you get a LOT more truck for your money. Also heard they fixed the issue with direct injection causing valve problems so it appears to be really a tried and true platform now. The new tacoma costs a ton, it's underpowered in the low end, fuel economy is mediocre for the sacrifices made in displacement and power, there are also a ton of quality issues. I know every manufacturer has their share of issues. However dollar for dollar and pound for pound I think you just get a lot more value in a full sized. I didn't want a full size footprint but now that I've got a kiddo I am finding that having more cargo room and passenger space would be beneficial. I can't do the tundra. ... it's really just an old outdated platform I feel...not crazy about the interior. A great truck but like the frontier overdue for a major revision. Wonder if Toyota will fuck up the new Tundra like they did the new Tacoma?

    Too bad a IS350 F Sport in AWD is way out of the price ranged compared to a 3rd gen or any Tacoma.

    I'd get an F150 which I've already been looking into. Only reason I haven't already made the change is, after owning a Mustang in the early '00s, I'm still scared to death of owning another Ford.

    Cost is unreal... even after negotiations, a new crew cab equally equipped as the trd off-road is low 40's high 30's... when you can get a trd taco for 33 easily.

    I haven't read all the replies, but if they were buying back, I would have to assume that means they 'think' they have the issues fixed, so I'd get another Tacoma.
    Ford = ugly
    Tundra = ugly
    4Runner = hot in front, ugly in back
    Sierra = ugly
    Bewbs = not ugly at all, and a great daily driver, but a poor choice for transportation.

    I am very pleased with my Sport DCSB MT and if asked today..... Yup, would buy another in a heartbeat!! All set with the domestics, my buddy with a 2015/2016 (can't remeber) GMC 1500 has had all sorts of issues. Maybe he is the smitty of GMC's.

    Honestly I'd probably get a GMC Canyon diesel. The bugger gets something akin to 30mpg which is stellar for a 4x4 truck.

    I personally have had my truck in 3 times now for the rear end transmission issue; mine is acting like a 2016, acknowledged by the dealership and a case opened. For me, if I really press the issue I think i could get them to buy it back, even if I am out of about 1K I think it would be worth it in the long run. I agree with @smitty99 on most of his points....

    As for me, it came down to two choices when thinking about buying a truck.

    1) Tacoma Pro or OR
    2) 2018 Ford Raptor

    I know these are two totally different vehicles but they are to me the best choices for their respective classes and what they are capable of both on road and off road. The reason I didn't go with a Raptor wasn't because of pricing, I get employee pricing. It was because of where I live, the size of the truck both height and width, it would sit more than it would have been driven and unknown gas mileage. Though when i was considering the gas mileage i didn't have enough data, but, my brother now has a 2018 and he can get 18 mpg combined which is good enough for me since I don't drive much so I can scrap that off the list. Lastly it was because I am also trying to set myself up for the future, through investments and smart use of my money. I thought buying the Tacoma would be more fiscally responsible, however...calculating the money lost from my 3 trips to the dealership, I am out nearly $3-4K in lost revenue and incurred expense, so I am not sure how fiscally responsible I have been.

    The raptor isn't without fault, don't get me wrong. It is far from perfect but as someone pointed out FORDs QC is much better I believe. Right now Raptors have (older ones) have had transmission problems, like it getting stuck in 3rd gear. They have had driveline issues like the Tacoma, etc...so i guess it comes out in a wash. [btw source, family owns 3 Ford dealerships, and Grandfather was a "something" at corporate]

    Now that I think about it...For me i guess it really did come down to price, even with employee pricing, I couldn't justify spending 60K on a truck that would sit in the drive way and be hard to park in my area if I went into the city.

    Long story short, still love the Tacoma, wish I bought raptor...I will continue to drive the Tacoma for the next three months and see how things go, but if my problems persist, I will just cut my losses and figure out how to adjust my budget for a Raptor, at least I know the problems will be addressed, but I am in an unfair advantage when it comes to that...

    Come on Toyota, get your shit together.
