Good plan! You'll get it off. At least you can practice on the other motor...

Sunday saw a puddle of coolant dripping under the truck while parked in the driveway. Figured it was the water pump on it's way out. Was gonna stop by the auto parts store after work but didn't notice any additional coolant after the drive to work. Not sure what to think.

I had a problem like that...in the picture you can see the antifreeze & gunk built up at the drain hole. Check to see if it's pushing coolant out of the overflow tank.

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
Crawl up under the truck and see if you see coolant around the bellhousing/ transmission. I had the coolant bypass pipe start leaking on my fathers truck... coolant built up in the valley of the motor and started to slowly run down the back of the engine.. Doubt its your problem, but just another possibility

I crawled under for about an hour and found most of the coolant dripping from the oil pan area. Traced it all the way to behind the pulley but not the water pulley. More like the tensioner pulley.
Ima give it a few days before I replace the water pump and other "while I'm in there" things.

New coils and spark plugs today. Just about to take it for a test drive.. had a fair amount of oil in the back on cylinder 4 where the coil plugs into the spark plug. I think might have been causing my misfire and engine light.

    @ DesertDigger.

Agree. That's most likely the problem. If you replace the valve cover gasket(s) look closely for small cracks. I missed one and had to redo/replace the passenger side cover. Recently someone on here took the time to paint them too. I'll paint them next time.

    Good luck

Has anyone else had a problem with the trail gear low profile tube bumper sitting about 1/4 inch lower on the passenger side?

Most bumper install kits come with washers to use as spacers to get everything to sit even. Even pelfreybilt includes them. You could go pick up some at a HD or the like.

If it's in the spark plug tubes it could be the spark plug tube gaskets in the valve cover for sure. Here's a good video for the job on a V6 - I imagine most of it carries over to the 2.7. Might as well do the valve cover gasket and any other close items as suggested.

Trouble shooting the power steering, got the temporary pump installed and the Oem one torn down. Instead of spending the cash on new oem I checked it all over with fsm specs, and sourced new parts. For 35 bucks I will have a tight and basically brand new pump!

Check your belt tension, I didnt check the tension just the belts when i bought the truck. To me it says pre mature wear due to a extremly tight belt.

Its got one groove in the shaft from the end of the housing. The housing cylinder, gear drive, and plates are almost brand new.

What were the symptoms and the FSM page(s) you followed? Not experiencing a problem with my ps pump, but I'm always interested to learn more about good cost saving fixes like yours :)

I got the tolerance specs from a online fsm, I measured the cylinder that is in the front housing, blade in drive gear slop, blade size, and shaft o.d.

I flushed drained and filled the system 3 times, along with cleaning out the res and filter. It had the power and when cold was quiet and effective. Since it was cold the parts didnt have time to expand and get sloppy. When it was warm it would start whining loudly, sounded like bearing failure to me.

It was the shaft rubbing on the honned tube it rides in. Unfortunatly I didnt take better pics but can snap some during re assembly for you. I just basically took it apart, figured out how it works and checked the working parts, no step by step guide.
