Hi Mat, Having some trouble reading the ECM. Hooked everything up, ran pcm flash, selected the read write template ( which was not in bold ) and clicked on identification. Identification worked but at this point I cannot select the read button as it is not lit up.
    What did I do wrong?

Dongle still in transit because of Irma :(

I can't begin to explain how pissed off I was with the truck yesterday, it simply refused to accelerate in a useful manner or change to a useful gear.

Probably nothing you did wrong. Another member had an issue like yours, and Mat asked for the serial number of the dongle. Probably a goof up on the license, no biggie, he can fix it. Email him directly.

Did you all survive ok that nasty storm?

It took an east turn and went up the middle, it was windy and rainy but we escaped the eye.

All is well over here still picking up trees and branches!

God Bless, glad to hear you didn't get the brunt of it.

As for the shifting, yes I"m a "Limited" owner and my wife and I aren't happy with the shift pattern either. It's quite Eco. This tune helps, but if you even drove a 2015 Lexus RX350, it also has a 6 speed auto and it drives like a dream. It's actually real close to the weight of an empty Tacoma.

Give it some time and don't punch it too much. Reset your mpg counters?

600 miles since 1.02. I drive like a granny just to see how much mpg improvement I can gain. Yes, mpg is reset...

What is your build date? If it's more than 5 months ago you may want consider a CPK replacement, even if you aren't on the recall list.

It's going to be very dependent on how you drive. I've been aggressively forcing shift changes when it upshifts when I don't like by applying more throttle. I'm not quite at 100 miles yet but it's shifting better than after the reset so it seems to be working. As a result of those frequent throttle jabs, however, my MPG hasn't improved yet. Should over time I assume considering this aggressive throttle input has not netted a decrease in mileage.

Not sure if this is your problem but when your in the pcmflash program look for the three dots on the page. This is what you click on to browse the file you wish to load.

Once the right file is found make sure you have the right ecm in the menu picked before flashing 76F0196/198/199/219 P5-CAN-bus in the Toyota/Lexus/Hino/Scion Menu. Then you'll be able to write to the ECU.
