that's a big jump. 100K more miles for a purchase? I would loose $10K on a truck I had for 10 months. I think I'm just gonna sue with the lemon law attorney. Then I'll have $10K+ for a down payment on a new one.

Diff was leaking. Saw a ton of oil like stains on my driveway. Went to look under my truck at 9,000 miles and wallah! Leaking diff. Brought it to the dealer, they re torqued the diff and told me next service apt they will take care of it.. Well its been three weeks and no active leaking, however, I want my $%%# diff gasket replaced. Will call them in a week or two as I rarely drive.

Yes, 60 days in had a Ram 1500 4x2, just moved to the Pacific North West so 4x4 was on the table already, but what I didnt like was I was paying 335 for my lease payment on a 4x2 and 180 a month for the amount over 60 dollars toyota was covering for the ram. so over 500 a month while my truck was down. Since I wanted to get a 4x4 anyway I have been looking for a way out and was totally tired of waiting for toyota to ship my parts with an undetermined eta still

Totally was but I know the guy who traded this in, he used it as a commuter its whole life and it was bought new from us by him, he has 3 tacoma's and is pretty fastidious about how he treats and maintains them.

    Update #7 (09/12/2017)

So finally got the call from Toyota dealership/Service department yesterday (09/11/2017) that they got my differential gasket. Dropping off the truck today.

I'm wondering if they will wipe the leak signs thats on the rear differential right now?

I just got my truck back yesterday after 6.5 weeks. However I don't believe I would have received it back so soon if I hadn't sent a email to Mr. Lentz. I sent the email on Thursday afternoon, and received a call from
The district service manager yesterday morning and then a few hours later a call from the service director at the dealership stating my truck would be done in a few hours. I also mentioned to the district service manager that my father had been waiting over 10 weeks for parts to arrive (however his truck wasn't being held), he also magically received a call stating he needed to make an appointment to get them installed and some very pathetic excuse about his truck not being on the recall list (it is) and then that they had received the parts a week ago (a bit hard to believe).

Regardless, I finally have my truck back. Extremely disappointed that it took an email to the CEO to get anything done as well as the fact that Toyota seems to not give a flying f*** about those of us that have been severely impacted by this recall (and from many comments on this forum I'm haven't been waiting nearly as long as some of you).

This has seriously made me question my loyalty to the brand. Best of luck to the rest of you.

How you got your truck back is identical to how I got mine back.

I e-mailed Lentz last Thursday. It was a very lengthy and assertive e-mail. I was called back by one of his assistants less than 24 hours later on Friday. I just picked my truck up this morning. Things went very quickly after getting in touch with him.

I've been out of my truck for 13 weeks. Absolutely insane. The lady from corporate told me that gulf states are the last ones to receive parts for recalls. It's absolute bullshit, but it's how they do things. When I picked up my Tacoma from the dealership this morning, she told me I was only the THIRD person since MAY to have their truck fixed at this 1 dealership, and they have over 100 Tacomas left to fix just at this one alone. My jaw dropped. I really feel for the people that are still having their trucks held in the southeast.

This truck and Toyota really need to make an impression on me for me to ever consider buying another in the future. Very concerning that in the first 10 months I've owned the truck, I've already been out of it for 3.

I'm trying not to be bitter because the lady at corporate helped me get it back, but I'm confident I would still be waiting for my truck if I didn't write that e-mail.

I agree with you 100%, it's insane and broader line unethical to me. I'm also trying to to be bitter because I really do like this truck and don't want to flush the money I spent on it down the toilet. It should not take emailing the CEO to get it fixed.

It's absolutely unethical. The parts required for this recall are not complex or expensive. There's clearly some gaming going on by Toyota. They're definitely not stopping the assembly line, and this whole thing feels like Toyota trying to spread the repairs over fiscal quarters instead of just taking the hit at once. Very shady.

In my email I also shared this sentiment. New Tacomas are still rolling off the trucks every day across the US to be sold. There's no problem getting those trucks built. The real issue for me is, in addition to looking like they're spreading the pain over quarters, is that the repairs are determined by damage assessment. If fluid >2.0L, gasket and hardware installed, GTG. But if fluid <2.0L then must check for damage, and possibly replace diff components. I can see diff components being harder to get in bulk.

So why then aren't they expediting the gasket fixes and moving those units back to the road? I mean, if my 3rd grader can cut out bad ass paper snowflakes, I'm pretty sure Toyota can stamp out some gaskets. The fact the new truck sales aren't affected proves it.

Exactly. If you use any logic whatsoever, it tells you that Toyota has a strategy for fixing trucks affected by the recall that doesn't put existing customers first.

The worst part is at the end of the day, we all paid for our recalls already, because contingencies like that are factored into the MSRP.

Just talked to the regional general manager. He said he got word that the production plant has manufactured all of the parts that have been on back order. The dealers should have them all within the week. He said that they need to match the parts with the reported VINs in order to supply parts for it.

They Lemon Law attorney called me just afterwards and said they can take the case at no cost to me. The shit being still do I give Toyota the benefit of the doubt and see if they fix it soon. I really do not want to drive my old honda civic till I try and find another truck when I found the only one i4 base model 4X4 access cab they had in the state of AZ. No carpet, fog lights GPS or any of that other crap.

That's weird, because until they drain the diff and split the carrier they don't know how deep the parts order is. They could look at mine and say, OK, gasket and fastners, next. But to take this much time means they're amassing replacement rear ends -- but that's a stroke job to imagine that. He must have meant the local boy scouts completed assembling gasket and fastner kits.

Funny I told my wife two weeks ago, "it cant just be the gasket and some bolts. They stamp that stuff out by the millions". It is probably the entire rear end.

I can picture this now... all of the trucks the dealer had for sale but were affected get fixed first. They run out of parts. I get shafted.
