Man, I'm really starting to understand why so many guys put down this "Plastic Bumper"......that blows that a little fun in the mud resulted in this.

Im sure ill break it again before the steel bumper goes on. No point in fixing it to break it again. I cant beleive after climbing several rock hills and ledges that a damn mudpuddle took it out lol.

New Tacoma owner here. Ditched the luxury Range Rover and now happily seated in a '17 TRD Sport double cab. Many thanks to the helpful folks on this forum who helped inspire the build. Did a lot of research to come up with the look I wanted and really happy with how it turned out & how it drives. IMG_0120.jpg

Here is a list of what I've changed:

-TRD Wheels with Nitto Terra Grappler G2 in 265/70/17 (no rubbing -no lift or level but truck sits a little higher than stock because of 70 series tire vs stock 65 series)
-Black Tacoma and TRD badging (genuine Toyota accessories -didn't want to bother going the paint & removal route)
    IMG_0112.jpg
    -Black raised Tacoma tailgate letters
    -Extang 3-fold tonneau cover
    IMG_0010.jpg
    -300 Industries laser-cut grille
    IMG_0117.jpg
-Mobtownoffroad.com tailgate reinforcement plate (because I like to carry motorcycles in the bed)
    -Weathertech mats
-5500K HID low beam conversion (stock headlights are borderline dangerous)
    -ZXE H11 fog light replacement

That's about it for now. Contemplating a CAI and perhaps an LED light bar in the future. Will also replace TRD truck bed decals with something all-black to complete the look.

Just so you know the Tacoma emblems you have aren't the new font. Those are for the second generation Tacomas. Some people might not have noticed that but they are different. Nice truck

I can't honestly say I knew which generation they are from but consider me informed now!

They were about an inch "less wide" so I figured they were not the same but either way, getting rid of shiny stuff is my mandate so they meet my criteria.

Amen brother. Only chrome left on mine is the bit in the headlights. Not sure if I want to spend the money for the PRO headlights or try the headlight mod myself. And then the chrome trim inside the cab. Not sure when manufacturers will wake up to millennials and the younger generation not wanting chrome. Leave chrome for the limited or maybe another cheaper model for the old guys. Shouldn't be on a sport and offroad

ahhh, you did the same as me, put a cover made for the gen 2 on a gen 3. I took off the weather strip on the front edge and replaced it with a thinner strip of closed cell foam. going to do the same on the rear to keep it from lifting the side of the 3rd section when the tailgate is closed.

Age is definitely a state of mind.

I like the little bit of chrome on my Lexus.......

    20160731_171127.jpg

Which even though is a daily driver/commuter car still has a sporty look I think.

I do agree though that the Tacoma Sport shouldn't have any chrome at all but with the Pro getting the black accents, I guess an Inferno grill and badges would have been overkill. I'll be adding a black grill soon, and I'm signed up for the blacked out turn signal mod. The tails and headlights will follow.

If anything, I'm worried too much black will detract from the sport look but our choices are limited.
