The robot programmed by a dirty canuck.

I'm optimistic but grounded in reality. However, the housing in SoCal, makes Vegas look like a viable option as of now and the future.

I think it's a political thing with the officials union. If the robot just calls every offside then you don't need linesman to be tight to their lines which can cause all sorts of issues.

I totally agree though that this was much better before the challenge. Now that it's here though I don't know how you take it away. Blown offsides look horrid.

I disagree. You ever come up the ice and realize that you are ahead of the play and then have to slow down, parallel the line, drag a skate etc? You do that and then all of a sudden you are behind the rush. That is why things got to where they are in the first place. You had guys cheating the rush and getting away with it. Close calls, yes but that little bit of room or hesitation is sometimes a huge difference on how the play turns out. I think the review is a good thing, to get it right. The added consequence of getting it wrong is worth a shot too.

I agree about the timeout though. If you do burn a timeout to rest the players after an icing, then you are already paying that price. I think taking away that option is a little bit ridiculous.

The linesman are there to make the call. Let them make the call, sometimes they get it wrong, but most of the time they are correct. I hate the review, it ruins the flow of the game and takes part of the joy of the game away. Now you cant celebrate a goal as it happens, because we have to wait to see if its reviewed or not and parse milliseconds of super slow motion to see if the skate was a hair off the line or not. To me it ruins the game.

I can understand that point. It is a fair argument.

This applies to any sport though, really. And Whether you are talking NFL, MLB or NHL etc there are people who hate the replay and the 'disruption' However, every sport has certain plays that get reviewed, like this one. At the end of the day, I think getting it right trumps all. I'd rather go away from the game knowing the right call was made, than relying on an official/linesman etc to get that correct at live speed, while also looking at other things happening at 100mph. But to each their own.

I wouldn't call the Sabres a hockey team. Train wreck seems accurate.
