I live in a state with no gun registration. Not when you buy them from a dealer or via private party. The only thing that needs to be registered at the full autos, and those are registered with the Fed, not with the state.
So if I go to my local gun shop and buy a gun, it's not 'registered' with anybody other than the dealer, for his records. At least theoretically, that is. So if I sell it, either private party or thru an FFL, there's no 'registration' info to change. :notsure:

they threatened YOU with jail time?? That's illegal! It not part of your constructional obligations to have to answer census polls. I tell them to fuck off also. I'd get there name and turn them into your congressmen.

My point being, my guns aren't registered. None of them (if I have any). They're not registered to anybody, never have been.

Maine doesn't have a gun registration program/requirement. So as long as they're not fully automatic, when you buy one, you don't have to register it with anybody. You just own it.

Up until 1976 they could jail you.

The Census Bureau likes to stress the positive benefits of participation in the survey, but the proverbial stick does exist. Under Title 13 of the U.S. Code, you can be fined up to $100 for refusing to complete a census form and $500 for answering questions falsely. However, the Website for the U.S. Census Bureau points out that the Sentencing Reform Act of 1984 effectively increased these minimum fines to $5,000. Noncompliance used to bring the possibility of a 60-day prison sentence and a one-year prison term for false answers, but Congress struck those provisions in 1976.

For all that, a Census Bureau FAQ on the subject of the
American Community Survey (PDF) concedes the following:

The Census Bureau is not a prosecuting agency. Failure to provide information is not likely to result in a fine. The Census Bureau staff work to achieve cooperation and high response rates by helping the public understand that responding to the ACS is a matter of civic responsibility, and prefers to encourage participation in this manner rather than prosecution.

Unless something has drastically changed in the last year that I'm not aware of the registration is a national thing, not a state thing. I would like to see that in written form

The background check form is not a registration form if that's what you are thinking about

    Right.

I would be completely unsurprised to find out that the background check system was being used as a registry, lol. But it's not supposed to be.

I suppose I was doing the same, so like what about guns that you order online that have to be shipped to an ffl? that is also just a back ground check and the gun actually isn't being registered?

Correct. Or at least it isn't supposed to.

So does that mean that you can do open trading with other states that don't have a registry and never have to register ?
