but the control arms still have a fixed range of motion regardless of what coilovers are in there, right? so it changes the driveline angles only because when you add lift the truck sits higher in that range of motion. the driveline angles are still the same throughout the range of motion. they are just more at resting ride height because the truck is sitting higher.

 

That is essentially what I was trying to depict with my old truck. You have a set full range of travel. Lifting the truck does not change the amount of travel, it changes where the truck sits within that range of travel at ride height.

Obviously this range of travel can change minor amounts by eliminating binding points (ditching the sway bar and adding uniball UCAs) before going to full long travel suspension.

 

No, They have a fixed range of motion but not the same fixed range as with no spacers. With spacers the control arms will hit your coils before the down travel moves the same distance.

Another thing that limits down travel is sway bars.
But without a good set of heavy coils you don't want to remove them

 

I'm interested in a HAM license and thanks for posting that video Androoollllee. There are testing sites in Auburn but they are not walk in. Does that mean I have to join their club or something? What's up with the no walk ins?

hell yeah. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
