After all the talk about proprietary technologies and requiring or "Works with iPhone" certification, it seems logic prevailed and it will be compatible with any Qi charging pad.

What a joke. Just another sliver, they keep releasing, to make iphone owners content. Samsung has had this for years now.

Yet it is undeniable this will accelerate the adoption of Qi. We are about to see Qi charging pads everywhere.

You don't have to get the $999 version, you can get the 8 or 8+ and still have Qi wireless charging.

I've always been a Samsung fan (i've had my Note 4 since the day it was released and no issues), but with the majority of folks jumping to apple---at times its inconvenient to be that "odd ball" in group texts when everyone else has apple, especially in areas with internet and bad cellular service. It may be time for me to jump ship. If anyone has any last words of wisdom to change my mind, please share.

While their is undeniable truths regarding the superiority of the Iphone, it has less pros than cons vs. Android devices.

ITunes is a prime example of the bloatware that is just awful. Android is drag+drop. Very simple, and can access on any PC, which is predominately used worldwide. The annoying syncing process, etc, no thanks.

Ha! it's what makes us different right? I've always rooted my phones, but recently been so busy and have a baby on the way, i'm not sure how much time I can devote to researching roms and updating it.

I know right? My Moto Droid turbo has had this feature for 4yrs now. We have only used the wireless pad a few times in the Camry, neat feature I guess.

I don't recall how much room there is on the auto, but on my manual---its tucked way in there making it hard to reach while driving. It's there but I have probably used it twice in my 6 months of ownership. It really heats up the phone and will get +1-3 percent in an hour.

you do realize that as soon as you put a case on that fancy new iphone, the Qi charing pad in the tacoma wont charge it. that was the big issue with any android phone that had wireless charging. the coils on the pad in the tacoma are just to dam weak to get a decent wireless connection to get a recharge cycle started.

On my 2012 mac mini, itunes is snappy and very fast. It's been a long time since I used itunes on a PC, don't remember it being all that great. So if it's still bad I can understand the impression you might have.

As for syncing, I never notice. It happens in the background over wifi when the phone is put on a charger. Can't say I've ever had a need to load music to my phone from random other computers, but if that's a common thing for someone I can see where it could be frustrating. How often do you find that happening?

Where's this update about iPhone and Qi coming from?

I used to be heavily into androids when the original android phone, G1 (black slide out keyboard, and trackball) came out. I was into the whole "rooting" scene but as I got older I fell out of it and things like being the "odd one out" as far as group chats, FaceTime, etc as well as the overall simplicity of the iPhone eventually convinced me to convert. I still appreciate the Android phones, especially for power-users, but Apple has became my cup of tea nowadays

With dropbox ,google drive, or other online cloud sharing---the days of syncing are slowly going away anyways, at least in my opinion.

Depends on the case. Put a thick rubber brick and sure it won't work. A thin shell case likely will be fine; I've had good success back when I was using a "patch" under a thin shell on my iphone before putting together my frankenmount.

You mean like icloud and itunes match...

Really, for a lot of people the whole model of buying music seems to be going away in favor of subscription streaming services.
