I'm not 100% up to speed on the group that's coming, but most of the Overlander group is HEAVY into the camping aspect. You will probably see more gear per vehicle with these guys than is "normal".

My "camping gear" @ Black Mountain will consist of a key to our cabin.... and a bag of charcoal.

Not shown on that map.... You start up the hill out of the lower campground (pictured) and it's (#2) on the left about 300 to 400 yards up the hill. #3 is on the right about another 250 yards.

When you sign in @ the office, just ask for directions to campground #2.

Where the arrow is pointed? I'm only asking because there are some first timers (camping) coming along and are wanting to know where the bath houses are in relation to campsite.

My itty bitty phone.....can't see real well, but I think that's part of the cabin driveway/parking area Campground #2 is a bit farther up the hill. It's a 3 or 4 minute drive to the rest rooms/bath house IIRC.

Last year, my wife and I stayed in town (motel) Showers and rest rooms are within sight of the park entrance (near camp store) upper camp grounds is on the other side of the cabin area.

If it's essential that they're really close to rest rooms, they could camp in lower campground, but there's far less privacy there.

Think that's where we stayed at a few years back. Idk if that's where @Bluegrass Taco is talking about though. Even the drive up is a pretty steep little hill.

Looking at long range weather prediction models for 6 weeks from now in Harlan area. Looks to be above average temps, below average precip. Peak color is late week prior to our arrival. This is pretty much what we had on year one. It was PERFECT. I'm pumped! Cannot WAIT!

Typically, unless you go in early spring, you don't go the Black Mountain for mud....There will be a few "puddles", but this place is all about hills, rocks and views. The green and blue trails are easy enough that we haven't had any body damage in past years (that I'm aware of) There will be more red trails included this year on the Saturday ride.

I hear some of the black trails are VERY tough. EXPECT bent metal if you brave any of them.
