Okay guys no gals......here is what has happened in my case with corporate after my call...as I said in an earlier post, corporate called me within 24 hours of my email to the CEO concerning the deliberate cleaning of my differential a second time around after being told nothing was leaking.....first time I could not do too much but had pictures the second time and it was weeping again 529 miles after the re-torque...it is here that thing got dicey......I told Tustin Toyota I was going to call corporate and they said they would also....I did call and was told they would follow up with me.....

Well I got a follow -up call from corporate yesterday telling me they had spoken to the service manager and was told everything was alright after a miscommunication about ordering parts.....I assured the lady that there was no miscommunication concerning parts....they were going to deny everything but since I had pictures corporate could see what was going on. Well I was told that the dealer did order parts and I should be hearing from the dealer very soon....

Today at 0715 I received a call from my service advisor telling me my parts were in and asked when I could come by....I told them I was out of town and would be able to bring the truck in next Monday. It's just amazing since there are 75 trucks ahead of me at Tustin waiting for parts that I am now getting mine...

Bottom line here is if you have been lied to, document everything and call corporate.....I know many of you have been without your truck for 60-90 days and that is horrible.....a case number from customer service does not get the attention that you get from corporate...so call them......

Will advise after my truck is repaired and let you know what kind of service I got and the attitude that was displayed toward me.....I did tell corporate that I probably was put on the bad guys list because I know they have one......they were surprised at that but told me if I get mistreated again to call them back....they told me they have a zero tolerance for mistreating customers...we'll see....I'll be glad when this is over

I don't believe a word of it, this has been stated several times by Toyota reps the past several months.

Mine is on the recall list and shows signs that it had weeped like some of the other minor weeping pics. Funny thing, I had my Truck in for service on April 27th, which is the day the recall came out. And the "inspection" on my 20K service said full and fine. I almost took it in a week later until I read of the confiscation of the trucks. The weeping has not gotten worse and is actually harder to see due to drying and dusts, etc. The rear end fluid is still full. I am due for the 25K free fake service. I will just change my oil myself and grease and lube the u joints (yep I have all the zerks)

Toyota is just allocating a little at a time to hide costs. So I am going to wait this out.

You should have just called corp first. The dealer just made it seem that it was all a big misunderstanding to corp and they put you in front.

In fact any dealer pulling this crap, first notify the NHTSA, then Corp let the dealer catch the pile of shit they deserve.

The sad truth is the dealers are Toyota's distribution network, I doubt seriously they would do anything to them. They don't want to cut off their hand.

Update #8 and hopefully final update on this issue(09/12/2017)
So after 7-1/2 weeks waiting for parts, dropped off the truck this morning and just now picked up the truck. While at the dealership, there was confusion on how to process this since my OR was not part of the recall but processing it under Warranty wasn’t straight forward. The service guy, the mechanic and the person dealing with this type discussed among each other and after 10min or so. During the wait, I spoke to the service guy and he mentioned they replaced the screws (bolts) along with the gasket but within a minute he spoke to the mechanic who then said it was just the gasket replacement for my OR since it already came with the “better” screws (bolts) due to lockers. The mechanic told me that the leak on mine was more of a minor seepage, not serious.

Okay….so then the service guy mentioned that the drain plug was also replaced along with the gasket and oil (of course).

Did they flush the rear brake lines?

Just read a few more updated posts from people regarding this. Have a question:

My OR isn't listed on the recall, but highlighted the leak at my local dealership during a service appointment for my clutch pedal creaking, and a loud clunk from my rear diff when encountering bumps, in addition to a gear whine above 35 MPH. They said they re-torqued all of my diff bolts, and sent me on my merry way.
Should they have provided a different service?

I ask, because they obviously didn't do any other part of the service. They forgot to grease the clutch pedal at all, so the service advisor liberally sprayed all over under my dash with an aerosol silicone lube, and they called Toyota TAS about the clunk without even driving the truck and was told it is a "normal condition of the manual trucks". I've had PLENTY of manual vehicles before to know that your rear driveshaft shouldn't have 1/2"-3/4" of play in it at the rear. They also billed out for a multi-point inspection of which they didn't do any of it. My dash cam proves that.

Not on a witch hunt, but reading people's stuff about the "retorque" being the wrong application has my attention as this local dealer obviously doesn't do anything else.

So I emailed Lentz yesterday morning about my truck being in the shop since July 20. To day I received a voicemail from the Service Manager at the dealer asking me to give him a call, but he did mention they have been trying to expedite parts and that they have an estimated arrival date of 9/21. This is all for an Off Road that wasn't on the recall list.

I received a call from Jermaine Boyd of Toyota. He said they probably can't extend the warranty, but he would look into it and call me back tomorrow!

New question, would it be normal for the rear diff to be so hot after 10 miles @ highway speed that I can't keep my hand on it , was done a couple weeks ago. Now I'm smelling gear lube , wasn't before the warranty work. Haven't had time to pull the plug to see if they filled it.

The diff shouldn't be "cook an egg" hot, but its completely normal for it to be very hot to the touch. It also highly depends on the ambient temperatures: if the pavement is really hot, it doesn't take much to build up heat in the diff to where you cant hold a hand on it - totally normal. Gear lube can handle extreme temperatures without degrading.

For the gear lube smell, thats unusual after a few weeks. Are you seeing a leak?

Easiest way to check is to grab a 24mm, Park on a flat surface, throw some cardboard under it and crack it open nice and slow. Fluid should be right at, or no more than 1/2" below the filling hole. While diff fluid can be quite low and still sling oil preventing serious damage, if its really low or completely dry, I'd call Toyota Care and have them tow it.

Just got a call from the Exec Office in TX. Was told they talked with the dealer about the open-ended waiting period and wiping the fluid from the rear end. Still no closer to getting the truck back, but the email to Jim Lentz at least earned a response.

I mentioned that the leak was minor, and asked what parts were ordered for my VIN. He said all parts. I asked if that meant a new rear diff, he said that's why the wait is so long. So not the best info but it's something.

Quick question guys, on the OR trucks where the rear initially leaked, does that mean they still get new parts after torquing them regardless?

Well, he did not call me back as promised! I will try and remain optimistic, and take this as a sign that they really are discussing extending our warranties!
