Alternative diagnosis/solution other than needle bearing after lift?

I recently installed bilstein 5100 with ome 888 coil, medium dakar springs, arb bushings. I had the alignment done twice and the alignment sheet looks all good. Still getting vibration betwee 20-35mph regardless of whether my foot is on the accelerator/brake or none at all. It feels like vibrations and shuddering. I tried putting in 4wd but I don't really feel the difference, at best the symptom only reduced 20% or it could be purely psychological. Any other ideas what could possibly do this?

I do plan on getting the ECGS installed as it is better to have it regardless of it resolving the vibrations but just wanted to know if there are any other things I may have overlooked before I take it to the shop.

 

With as many people that have had to replace that bushing after being leveled or lifted, it's the first thing I would do. An alignment isn't your issue. The next thing I'd try it to have the tires balanced on a road force machine that can measure/fix your runout.

Possibly your driveline? did you shim your rear axle?

 

Yes. A road force balancer applies pressure to the tire to simulate the weight of a vehicle. Do you still have the factory wheels and tires on the truck?

 

OP it sounds like it's your rear drive line angle causing the problem. The ultimate way is to measure your driveline angles, do some calculations and get it back to spec with a combo of axle shims and carrier bearing spacers. Personally, I'd try the easier fixes first for the sake of saving time. The easiest and quickest potential solution is to unbolt your carrier bearing, rotate it 180 degrees, and rebolt it. That drops it down ~1/4" and for some people that solves their problems.

 

I bought the trade pro seem rims with k02s from the dealership which was balanced twice and was perfect on stock suspension...but I may try this as well to be sure.

 

That is a whole different language I cannot understand lol. I'll have to bring this up to the mechanic as a solution...

 

Do you have a ratchet set with a 12mm socket? (or maybe it's 14mm)

Op, did you also install aftermarket UCAs also? I'm curious how you installed 888 springs with I assume are 3rd gen 5100s and got good alignment numbers if you're still running the stock UCAs.

That's got to be almost 3 inches of lift.

 

Unfortunately I did not get before/after measurements. It sure feels like more than two inches. I kept stock UCAs upon the recommendation of the shop stating it will be a two inch lift. Then again...they did make statements that were questionable...

 

Thanks for the guidance. That thread somehow lead me to looking into Carrier Bearing Drop kits. Is there any long term cons or potential issues for using carrier bearing drop kits over axle shims?

 

I got almost 2 inches on my truck with 885 springs after 2 months of settling. According to the Headstrong OME chart you should be at 2.75 inches after settling.

Are you running an aftermarket bumper, winch, extra battery or armor also?

 

None of those mods just yet.....

What tires are you running now?

 

Shouldn't need to touch the carrier bearing; unless it's off from the factory.
