I know of a few camp spots About an hour north of silver lake. Its called Nordhouse dunes. We usually hike out to the lake shore and set up camp from our packs. But if you wanted to car camp you can do that along the forest roads that are just east of the dunes area. See the map.upload_2017-8-30_16-45-39.jpg

There are also some camping spots at further east within a 1.5 hour range. Take a look on the forest road maps.
    https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd493816.pdf

We found some great camp sites along Tippy damn Pond and the north country trail. All of them were only accessible through hiking or high clearance two tracks.

Cool Picture BTW!! Where were you?

Thanks for the Nemesis. I've canoed the Big Manistee and came across some folks camped out along the banks with their vehicles. I'll definitely be checking out those maps as well.

I took a 5500 miles trip out west. Went to several National Parks, hit some awesome trails, and had a blast. The pics I posted are from Glacier, and Badlands National park.

Sweet jump. I had B & L revalve the shocks 1 step more rebound all around and 2 steps more compression in the front, I have to ask how they changed the stack, I know the front compression they had to change a lot, Fox didn't have a standard stack in the coil overs.
Hard to tell on the street but they feel much more balanced front to back with the same adjustment.

See you out there, we'll be out there all week end and most of Saturday. I'll defiantly take that ride..

Total dune noob here. I know I have to have a flag, an orv sticker and park pass. Where would I be able to pick up the flag?

David Allen Racing and Apple Tree are two businesses right by the entrances of the park. They will both have flags and brackets. Its up to you, how you mount the flag, just needs to be up front and high enough to hit the pole when you go in. Try to make sure it doesn't hit your hood or get a pool noodle.

OH one more thing, don't be the guy who doesn't air down and gets stuck in the entrance, everybody hates that guy haha. Bring them all down to 10-12 PSI and you should be fine in 2 wheel drive.

You can mount the flag right off the front of the frame...

Ill be up Thursday or Friday for the weekend depending how my week goes. We usually hang out and run rc cars somewhere at the walking area border. Most of our crew are in jeeps but a few have Toyotas. If my taco is broken I will probably be in my Red Tundra.

So the family and I are going to Tahquamenon tomorrow and doing some RTT camping near Crisp Point (dispersed camping) for the night. Anything we should do while at the falls (other than hike the falls and hit up the brewery)? Anyone else in the area?

Was reading something on the DNR website about a parking lot voucher for Silver Lake. I am assuming this is for folks who actually need a parking spot (like to off load trailers with dirtbikes, buggies and the like), not streetable vehicles that drive in on their own accord?

You would be correct. You only need a voucher if you are leaving anything in the parking lot. If you are "Dune Ready" you can go right in. Well there might be a line, but you go in with the line.

Had a 'Cold One, with the Boys' quite literally this weekend up on Drummond Island. Turtle Ridge and the 70 something miles of ORV Routes.

Didn't know you could take trucks/SUVs on the trails on Drummond. Would my truck with stock suspension be able to handle the trails?

Yep! Just gotta have the 2 ORV Stickers from the DNR (same as you would need at Silver Lake).
    Short answer: sure.
Long answer: yes, but you will likely ding the diffs and skid a good bit (lots of rocks and rutted mud paths). We all stopped and spotted for each other a good bit throughout the weekend.

For reference, my SR5 is running a TRD OR suspension (roughly same height as stock) w/ 31.5's.
