Are there any upgrades for this such as something like Android connectivity(terminology?) or the like?

I think your kit looks pretty good. Install seems easy enough but I really don't trust the range of my OEM key fob to start my car. I saw you mentioned somewhere on here about smartstart. Do you know any information on this system? How does it hook up and interact with your system?

I saw Drone is pretty much the same application. Does their system work with yours also?

The smart start simply plugs into the remote start with no programming needed as we do that on our end before we ship it out. The smart start is 150 and the yearly service is plan from directed is 69.99.

Unfortunately the only option is to use directed products with this directed remote start. The Smart start works on both iPhone and Droid.

All remote start manufactures have their own smart start system. The drone start states its for Compustar, Arctic Start, FTX, iDataStart systems which are all made by Firstech.

It's pretty easy, and we just made a big change to the wiring and instructions, so it's even easier than before.

We just had a customer who never installed anything before do it in 15min. That time was wiring so if you factor in removing the panels which you have to do with every single kit offered for the Tacoma, its a 25min total job.

That 15 min is defiantly worth the savings over anyone else kit in my opinion.

KB Voodoo was the first company to offer this for the 3gen tacoma. Others followed like any other business. He has the most knowledge and best support hands down.

They are also a supporting vendor of this site.

The wire taping locations have been minimized to only two locations. This eliminates the removal of the steering cover shroud entirely. You simply remove the two phillips screws holding the knee shroud in place, pull it down, and and tap your locations. A total of 9 wires are tapped if your truck is equipped with auto lights and only 7 wires are tapped of you don't have auto lights.

The install takes all of 25-20 min and at the 150 price point, simply can't be beat. We also have a nice DIY video on youtube that helps immensely with install. Just ignore the removal of the steering shroud and let the paper directions guide you through that part of the install.

Just purchased one, excited for it to arrive now. :)

I've seen several comments about the range of the fobs. I've been able to lock/unlock my doors while I'm at work. Left my phone in the truck and had a co-worker get it out for me. Stood in the window from the fourth floor, while truck was in parking deck across street. They go further than you would think. Plus, if you hold the fob right under your chin it will use you as an antenna.

The chin technique actually works, it just looks a little silly.
