    3/8" should be fine. They don't take much to snug them down. I've heard the fill plug can be a bitch to get off.
    Make sure to remove fill plug first.
    That's my next project, but first I'm going to install these :Dimage.jpg
    May as well do transfer case while your down there.

    Yep, transfer case lumped in there too, just still at work til now... also, I put those on as soon as I bought my truck. I love them. I also had them on the Honda I had before Jackson.

    Whatever size fits your socket set.

    I'd buy everything in 3/8" size. Ratchet, sockets, torque wrench.

    Get 6 point sockets if you can. 12 points tend to round heads more often and pretty much suck.

    Now, because we drive foreign trucks, doesn't it make sense to make sure things are in metric? Again, not a mechanic or familiar with tools, just thinking "out loud"...

    Metric is the working end (or standard).
    1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 3/4" is the size of the tool you use the sockets with.

    Size of the drive head, basically.

    Yup. The drive, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, refers to the size of the hole that connects to the ratchet. The metric part refers to the hole that goes over the nut.
