I'm looking to put some 17" TRD Sport wheels on my stock 1998 truck with stock non-TRD suspension with no lift. I was thinking of using BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO2 LT265/65R17 120/117S tires on this 17" rim:

Any idea if I'll encounter any clearance issues or rubbing? Planning on running a lift eventually but just the stock suspension for now.

Back spacing on those is 5.25" compared to stock 1st gen wheels which are 4.5", so they'll be 3/4" more inset. May have potential for rubbing at full lock steering.

Could that be alleviated by adding wheel spacers?

Yes, a 3/4" spacer would bring you to a net back spacing of 4.5", so the same as stock. Your wheel studs are just under 1" long though, so I would go with 1" wheel spacers. I have 1" Bora spacers, they are excellent quality.

Awesome. I wouldn't run into any other clearance issues like the wheels hitting wheel wells or anything? Don't know what the max tire size is before requiring cutting or a lift. I'm just looking at P265, which the truck had originally but since these are on different rims I don't know if it'll work.

If you go with 1" spacers, you will have slightly less backspacing than stock, so you may get slight rubbing, most likely on the mud flaps on your front wheel wells. That would also be most likely at full stuff, but if you're not doing a lot of off-roading I doubt you would ever notice it.

I gotcha. Just as long as the tires don't rub on anything when putting the steering wheel lock to lock no problem.

Maybe a little, depending on the condition of your suspension, alignment, etc.
But hey, we know how to fix that :sawzall:

Haha yeah. Could I avoid the rubbing when I eventually add a lift? I really don't want to sawzall the truck lol.

I'm doing the exact same thing but with SR5 wheels. Bora 1" spacers are on order from wheelers off road. I called Bora and they said 1" spacers will cover your studs so you don't have to worry about studs protruding too far.

What wheels and tires are you using? Do you have a lift?

I have goodyear wrangler 265/70r16. I got some 2016 tacoma sr5 take offs from my local toyota collision center. (Guy bought a new truck but didnt like any of toyotas wheels, had them taken off before he ever got the truck. The place sells the take offs for like $300 a set on Craigslist) No lift, may come in the next year or two. I did a lot of reading on the subject, decided Bora 1" spacers were the best way to go.
