Great poll and post. I'm curious if there are any brackets that come pre-fab'd with a cb antenna mount.

    A thing or two...
You mean ditch light plus cb antenna or just cb antenna. There's at least one company making cb antenna mounts that bolt where the ditch light brackets go.

I believe Relentless Fabrication makes a cb hood bracket which is separate from there ditch light bracket design. Scroll through there webpage I'm sure it's there.

Not on the list but I'm running off camber fabrication on my 3rd gen. Main reason I went with them is they hide the bottom of the light mounting bolt, just thought it looked a little cleaner.

I made my own, they're stupid simple and cheap!

I just used 1/8" alluminum plate 2" wide and I belive 9" long, rounded out one end, drilled some holes i. The square end, undid the three bolts that hold the mirrors to their mount and with some longer screws I sandwiched the mounts in place between the mirror body and arm.

I get no glare on the hood, no added wind noise, they're a little less noticeable, because they're so far off to the sides they can be aimed nearly straight down if I want, and as a unexpected bonus, with the doors open they can light up the engine bay pretty well.

I also have them on independent switches so I can run one side at a time, or both. This allows me to keep the right hand side one on for watching for critters and deer on the side of the road without blinding oncoming traffic.

I generally keep them aimed just slightly down and out about 40° from straight forward. Great visibility from them like this!

Forgot I did have to dremel out about an 1/8 inch of plastic from the mirror arm for the plate to sit flat.

I did it as kind of a test but they are more secure than I expected so they became permanent. I haven't gone rock bouncing with them but they've held up happily to everything I've thrown at them thus far. Including catching a few branches on the trail and what not.

I would like them to sit a little closer to the mirror itself, however if they were any closer I wouldn't be able to fold my mirror in without interference of the light body.

Was actually inspired to make a mirror mounted ditch light bracket after stalking "the green slug" FJZ80 build thread.

    Ignore the mud.:anonymous:

Do it! It's dead easy and super cheap. If I can rig something myself that works as good as something I'd have to pay for then generally I try to do it myself.

It probably only like $3 in alluminum if you had to buy it?

I had it as a chunk of scrap from some other thing so it was free! :D

I used alluminum simply because it was one free and laying around my garage, two it just happened to be the perfect width, three it's easy to cut and shape, four lighter weight than steel and lastly just because it's more resistant to corrosion.

I'm the same way, I would rather buy a tool to make something than go buy the part. I may have to look a little closer at my mirrors when i get off in the morning.

Are those dually side shooters? What optic/patern?

I'm currious to see their output in comparison to my Dually D2 spot/flood combo optics.
