The group that I'm going with has done a Moab trip 3 years running. They have relatively stock full size pick ups. They're "up-gunning" their rigs this year and we'll be doing a couple tougher trails. I'm the one that talked 'em into that, so I better get my game in order!

By April 2018 my truck needs to be "done"....Locker in, Roof rack installed, and a little surprise project that I'm working on needs to be finished. A buddy sells fuel cells for sprint cars and dirt track cars...He's working on one for off roaders. It MAY go in the stock spare tire location if we can build a suitable skid plate to protect it. Current plan is for something in the 12 to 15 gallon range.

Thank God they put gas stations near the malls.

 

I thought about jerry cans.....Thought about Rotopax.....But the convenience of just flipping a switch instead of funneling gas into the stock tank seems very attractive. I went from right at 20mpg in stock trim to just barely 15 since gearing, bigger tires, and all the bolt on crap...

Yep. Also a web site. That's how I have that Fuelly link in my sig. Very useful. I use it to keep every (and I have ALL of them) tank of gas and documented every bit of maintenance done. I used to do this manually in a notebook - the app is so much easier.
