okay so I'm wanting to put a heavier-duty tire on my Tacoma. I do a lot of outdoor stuff going over rocks and such and I was looking at an 8 ply or 10 ply tire but in order to install I have to go from a 265 70 16 to a 265 75 16. can I change the aspect ratio on a stock Tacoma without having any problems rubbing xcetera?

You'll be fine. I run 265/75/16 no problem as well as many others.

What about having to switch gear ratio? I have a 4cyl 03 prerunner... will it work fine leaving as is while going to a 75 from a 70.

    Too few to list.
Going from 265/70R16 to 265/75R16 is not that big of a jump. Your gear ratio will be fine. You will however, notice a decrease in mpg especially if you go with a heavier tire.
