Everyone asks about it, to my knowledge no one has done it yet. This will be an ongoing thread in my attempt to replace the OEM wireless charging pad with something that actually works. Even if I fail my hope is someone with more experience can take my place to finish what I'm starting.

    9/14/17
I disassembled an old wireless charger that I bought a couple years ago. Depending on how well this goes I'll eventually use a newer model with fast charging capability. This model is the Samsung EP-PG920A. The input is 5v = 2.0a. I'll need to take a multi-meter to the existing circuit in the truck to find out what the voltage is. I may have to rig up some sort of voltage reducer or make a brand new circuit.

    Update 9/26/17

After much research and a lot help from @Broccoli I think I figured out how to remove the front console box. I plan on attempting the removal this weekend. Attached are the instructions to remove the Front Console Box

Why do you keep "reserving" the thread?

Reserves the spot for future posts So when I update the thread, my posts will be at the top rather than the bottom.

I get ~30% per hour charge rate with my iphone7 in its Qi charging case using the truck's charging pad. Same as on my Qi Frankenmount.

What are you aiming for with your project?

My problem with the cubby charger is you can't see the phone, so using it for Waze while charging doesn't work so good. That's a large part of why I created my Qi Frankenmount. So I could charge the phone wirelessly while still being able to see the display.

BTW, if I recall correctly there's an airbag controller down in that area. Be cautious as you dig around.

I would be willing to join you on this project! I got that same Samsung pad at home and I don't use it since it isn't the fast charge version.

Maybe will give this a go later today. Have you started yet?

The new iphones just announced now support wireless charging so those of us that use apple products are excited to see what you come up with!
