Woodbridge resident subbing to thread. Bought my 2017 Sport MTDCSB few months back. Haven't owned a truck in 3 or 4 years now, and loving my 3rd gen daily driver. Fan of overlanding (OB7105) and camping/hiking in general. Interested in any local meetups to see mods on other Tacomas, especially 3rd gens.

First newb question: what wheels/tires are pizza cutters?

as a former 3rd gen owner, there are only a couple that show up to meets around here.... most of us have 2nd gens

we have mod days, meetups etc... fairly often.... Hope to see you around!

pizza cutters are 255s as opposed to 285s

Nice. I'm still stock now, but getting my 3" level/lift kit soon, then getting 285/70/17s with 1.25" spacers and praying I don't have to cut. Read up on plenty of threads everywhere on 33s rubbing or not with a 3" lift, some say yes, some say no. And I'm on the stock Sport suspension, which I think runs a tiny bit lower in front than the Offroad when stock. I probably will need to cut, but I'm nearly at the point of saying F it and just do it and deal with whatever happens.

Interested in seeing 2nd gen mods too! Gives me ideas on my planned mods.

I like the look, always have. They'll be a bit pricier I suppose, but that'll depend on which ones I go with. I'd like to keep the price manageable.

Jesus how big is that RTT!? Never seen one that long. Love the color-matched parts, did they come like that or did you paint them? Surprised you didn't paint the snorkel too!

I definitely suggest avoiding the leveling spacer lift and going Bilstein 5100s / OME coilovers, but either way, I'm happy to help you install it if you'd like since I already have experience w/ 3rd gen lifts (they are nearly identical to the 2nd gen)

I did a 3" lift and put 285s on my 3rd gen.... it's all about wheel offset.. I put 17x8.5 wheels w/ a +0 offset and didnt rub when driving on the street at all... but you WILL (no matter of the offset) rub when offroad. (you can see that in my build thread) and that's actually where you can get a solid amount of mod ideas (from mild to wild) by looking at people's build threads.

you'll need to do a CMC (cab mount chop) which our good friend @DOUBLLD usually takes care of for a small fee... (he's actually doing mine the weekend after next)

other than that, you might have to do a little plastic trimming on the fender liner, but that takes 10 minutes

its 7" longer than the long bed. Might look longer because its on the rack on the cap. That is in progress of changing.

The bumpers are powdercoated. I need to have some black in there to break up all the white
