MT doesn't learn, only the AT gearbox learns

Are you sure? What about adjustments for fuel Octane etc? Timing?

Fairly sure, the throttle positioning table that Mat changed is absolute, the AT gearbox has learning modes based on how you drive the vehicle (holding onto gears longer if you're booting it).

AT guys, did you get one file back from Mat or two? (one for ECU and one for gearbox?)

there are multiple ECU throttle maps, 16 iirc and although Mat can't disable the learning, he said he can reduce the number of maps. it switches maps continually on the fly based on complicating factors such as load, temp, throttle position, etc. this can wonk your throttle response.

refining the maps to effectively control the learning may require more dyno time.

this is speculative, so let's wait for @OVTune to clear up the confusion and speculation.

This is a thread for all, remember that.
I'm physically contemplating doing a 2GR swap if and when OVTune figures out the situation with the 18' LS500's exhaust manifolds bolting up to the 2GR. For the time being, I'm going to purchase software and licence for the 1GR and see what I can do personally with 4.0L's of durable awesomeness, I'm tired of no power, this truck deserves more.

Hmmmm this got me thinking.. I believe Mat said the issue with drastically reducing the number of throttle maps in an A/T truck was that the transmission would not shift properly/at all. We won't have that problem! Anyway, I'm sure it's not that simple, but I can dream!

I agree with this. The time has helped immensely. There are still situations where you get inconsistent response from the engine. Throttle delay, perceived changes in torque output. Its a bit strange. You will hit a certain spot on the road and request a certain throttle angle and output and you will get it. Next time same situation, maybe you enter at slightly different speed or slightly different throttle angle and it will feel flat and struggle slightly to gain rpm at the same rate. I also installed a new crank sensor yesterday and my I initial thoughts are positive on that. Seemed to eliminate some of my misfire/stumble/hesitation/stutter.

Really hoping somebody in SoCal will donate their stock MT for some dyno time.

I share the whole, how big is the stock vs tune experience. For +$700 bucks we all hope its more than "I think it feels better". I know for a fact that the tune makes a big difference because back when I had the 1.01A the dealership flashed me from v.2 to v.3 (in attempt to fix stuttering) and when I left the dealership I knew something felt off. I sent that ecu file to OV and he sent me back an updated 1.0.1B tune and after I reinstalled it I felt the difference. Going back to stock without me doing it is about as close as we can get to the blind test I think, and the tune passed the test for me.

Decided to try the s mode shifting with Trac control and LSD disabled with ECT power on and give it a romp. The first thing I noticed is when I shift 1 to second at 6000 rpm is the truck almost shut down like it cut power to the engine and just completely choked for about 2 or 3 seconds before power returned and picked up in second gear. So do you have to shift at 5000 rpm to avoid this...?
Really didn't like how it responded.

I'm beginning to think the tach has a slight delay when you're up at 6k rpm and the transmission takes a second to respond to your upward gear change and it hits the limiter, except the transmission is shifting so you don't hear the limiter.

More like 4k in first gear. The delay in upshift using S mode is damned ridiculous.

That's not the tune...that's there stock and it makes trying to drive aggressive pointless.

So when you hit the limiter it shuts down that hard..?
Other times I've hit the limiter in other vehicles it just cut ignition signal slightly until the shift was made or you let off the throttle.
This thing felt like it almost died.
I'm waiting on my tune kit so this is stock.
