Damn, people tryin to make me have feels and shit
Bit of a backstory, but here goes:
So during summer school runs, I had a kid on my bus that had been labelled a problem child, non verbal autistic and in a harness. I connected with the little guy, who was actually very smart. He couldn't speak like you and I, but he could grunt and holler, shake and nod his head. He also would grab ahold of you, which was his way of saying hi. This, of course, scares everyone that doesnt understand, especially other kids. If you paid him enough mind, you could figure out the gist of what he was trying to communicate. His mom was amazed at how calm and sweet he was when he came home in the afternoons, especially because he almost always had a bad report in school. She was even more shocked when he started not wanting to get off the bus. He used to hurry to get off the bus, she told us, because the driver and assistant he rides with during the regular year always scolded him and were mean, and he would always get off the bus angry. Then during the last week of school, he would hug me when it was time for him to go, and I would end up having to carry him off the bus to Mom. She said that it meant he liked me. She asked us if we could drive him during the school year, but we already have contracts elsewhere.

Well today, while I was parked at my Middle School and waiting for the kids to come out. (Bus acted like crap, but it survived the day, btw.) Someone knocks on the bus door, and I look up from my book to see my little buddy from summer school and his mom. Apparently she teaches at the middle school I run out of, and when she saw my name on a pony mail envelope in the office, thus learning that I drove out of her school, she knew she had to bring her son to see me. Well his face lit up when I opened my door, and he come up and gave me a hug. Me and his mom chatted for a while before she pulled a white box out of her purse and handed it to her son, who in turn handed it to me. He helped me open it to reveal a pretty cool travel cup with my name on it. Pretty frickin cool!
She said he refuses to ride the bus with his normal driver and assistant, the ones that yelled at him, so now his grandmother picked him up from school every day. She is hoping to get him into her school when he is old enough, and we are hoping they'll put him on my bus when that time comes. I got a picture with my buddy, but I can't post that here because of policy.

Understand this, the thought of walking into AT&T gets me hard now...
There is no replacement, she is everything AT&T stands for

Yeah man, lets me know that I'm doing my job how it should be done, too. It's not just a paycheck. These kids may only be on the bus for a short while, but we are the first people they see outside of their homes and the last they see before going home. We have the power to shape their day, maybe change it for the better. You'd be surprised what a lowly bus driver or assistant can do.

I've been with AT&T for at least 10 years, if not more. TBH, IMO they have the best coverage, not the best price, but the best coverage and data speeds. I always regretted going in though to deal with something in store. Now they have a hard time kicking me out at closing because I'm literally glued to the tv watching Lily's aka Milana's ads lol
