Hi everyone. An update on my truck.

I am scheduled to drop my truck off for 4-6 hours next week on the 21st at the dealer. The parts have come in and the service manager scheduled the appointment. They will flush and clean the differential as well. Very satisfied how they have handled the situation at my dealer considering the leak was noticeable just two months ago. It has been dry since they re torqued the diff bolts, however, they recognize fluid did leak and want to settle the issue once and for all. Keep in mind my truck is not covered under recall as it is an OR. However, it is covered under warranty. Best of luck!

What parts did they replace besides gasket and re-torque?

My appt. is this Sat. along with my 20k checkup, dry as a bone but I'm on
the list so we'll see what they say. They've already been told they can't keep
it, can't imagine they'll do anything other than give it an "ok".

Great! They just replaced the gasket and drain plug (new oil Of course) on my OR. Said mine has locker which already has those better nuts/bolts.

They haven't replaced anything yet. They just re torqued and sent me on my merry way. However, after being a persistent customer, I am now getting the differential work done next Thursday under warranty. They will be replacing the gasket, front cover, studs, and anything else needed. A reflush and cleaning and good to go. Said it'll take about five hours.

He called me back today. No extended warranty, but they will reimburse up to $750 for future maintenance or add on's. What Taco part can I put on for that much?

I'd use it on actual maintenance. Rear diff, front diff, transfer case, plugs, etc.

I'd give corporate a jingle and let them know about that, that's not right. I'm sure Toyota would like to know that the dealer is billing them for work not being done. I'd also tell them you want the services done at a different dealer, since they aren't taking your concerns very seriously. My rear was leaking, but is an OR, and they just re-torqued and said it was fine. If there are any signs of leakage, I'm going to take it back, most likely to a different dealer.

I surrendered my Tacoma to Santa Margarita Toyota last Friday. We'll see how long it takes. As frustrating as this recall is, let's remember this is a Toyota Corp issue and not your Toyota Service center or service advisor's fault. Be kind to them when filling out the surveys from Toyota. The advisors' paycheck is directly effected by them.

well i agree it is a corporate issue, but when the dealer wipe and cleans weeping differential not once but twice, it becomes a dealer issue to me......i got corporate involved and will have my truck fixed on Monday 2 weeks after I sent Jim Lentz and email with pictures

Good thing you sent the pics up front. I withheld, and told the third person I talked to how I thought it was interesting nobody at Toyota thought it was worth looking at mine. She just hid behind a "legal would be all over me if I looked at the pictures" statement. It must push them to a point they can no longer deny the event and have to concede wrongdoing. FWIW, I still have no date, and the dealer no longer responds to my emails. Real pro's...

So I just got my truck back today. I emailed Lentz on Tuesday, wednesday service called me said I was getting a new rental friday (today). Thursday morning dealer calls says parts are in truck will be done Thursday afternoon. Toyota exec calls me about my email today and says she just talked to the dealer about truck, told her i picked it up already. She then sends me an email for 350 dollars for any future repairs on any Toyota vehicles I own.

All in all, emailing Lentz seemed to speed things up.

I talked to the Regional manager on Tuesday after I sent him a very nasty email. My Truck is done on waiting for me at the dealer. They had it completely detailed and put a full tank of gas in it. I'll get it after work.
