What HD spring pack to get rear to aprox 24" Dakar or Wheeler? Broken AAL.

Need to replace my rear leaf springs as my mad scientist setup finally gave up the ghost.

Current setup is an AC 4x4 with 5100s set at 1.75" and a toytec single leaf AAL in the back. Rear height is 24" center of hub to fender and 39" floor to fender. I would like to keep the same height as the truck is about level now. I wouldn't mind going higher in the rear. More concerned with capacity over flexibility.

Looking at OME Dakars or Wheeler HDs. Which one, and where should I buy it that has it in stock and could typically get it to me by Friday next week(I will be in the woods for work)?

The light duty EL095R Dakars gave me exactly 24" hub to fender. I would contact Headstrong Off-road. I was amazed at how fast the springs arrived to my door.

You'll need the heavy duty Dakars to get the lift you want, especially if you want to keep th lift when loaded down.

 

Theoretically the EL095R(light/medium duty) plus the new OME AAL is just about the same as the HD Dakars? Can't find the heavier ones in stock.

 

I would agree with this. Since I have a work van I never carry a load in my Tacoma. If you throw more than 200lbs in your bed or tow, I would go with the Heavy Duty pack. The light duty gives a good ride and has great flexibility but it does sag when weight is added in the bed.

 

Yes, the HD pack is the LD pack with an extra leaf. OME sells it separately for those who bought the EL095R and then realize that they should have purchased the HD pack.

 

I can't tell you that for sure. I know with my RTT, bed bars and an empty bed I was at 23.25"/23.75" with brand new EL095Rs. I've taken the tent and bars off and removed some other camping stuff so I'll get out and measure it again soon to see what it went up to.

Edit - 23.75"/24.25" with a hard tonneau cover and 50ish pounds in the bed.

 

Thanks for the numbers. I'm surprised the RTT/bed bars took it down almost an inch. Still, the only time I have decent weight in it is when I am moving, so I might be good with those and then see if I need the AAL.

To update. Just ordered the EL095Rs and AALs from Headstrong. Spoke to them on the phone, and it SHOULD go out no later than Monday. With me being in Lousiana, it shouldn't take long to get here.

I'll find some pads to insulate the AALs IOT limit the squeaking.
