Cool, thanks for sharing...didn't know it would be that easy to make them fit. Never really had a reason to look into it.

Parallel parking with the stock pre-01 mirrors is kind of like bowling with your eyes closed - you'll probably stay between the lanes, but you won't know for sure until you hear a crack lol.

Aesthetically I like them better too. Crossing a 5 lane freeway with a camper shell is no fun though lol. The price was right so I went for it. I'm putting on new doors too so I'll paint everything at once after I drive around the four-tone truck for awhile lol.

Some led reverse lights / pods will help for parking at night as well. Right now I have to roll my window down and look out of it to see anything back there. The camper shell is going to get replaced with a soft topper once my parts are installed and out of the bed and that won't help visibility much.

They started using mag-chloride here about 20 years ago.

It's a salt/halide like sodium-chloride and has the same effect on metal etc. only difference is mag-chloride is much more water soluable. So try to hose it off as soon as possible.

Need some help identifying a mystery sound. I'll try to get a clip of it later, but I'm guessing the big brains here will know exactly what I'm talking about.

It sounds like a swishing, brushing, or whistling sound at idle and changes with engine speed.

My guess is that it's probably a bearing on one of the pulleys that's trying to die.

    What do you guys think?

9/10 chance it's the AC tensioner pulley.

Yep those look OEM. I was refering to the bolt holes, The aftermarket ones have a rough surface around the holes so that the bolt may wiggle loose.

    You guys are the coolest!

Brett, didn't you replace the bearing in that pulley, or am I thinking of someone else?

    Thanks again, gents!

I'd reccomended buying a whole new pulley, as they're not that expensive. Then toss order a bearing and toss it in your old one for a spare.

My last one only lasted a year with all the wheeling.

I like that idea. Thanks, Brett!

By the way, I'm sure I can figure it out, but is there an easy way to verify that it's the AC tensioner?

Sure, loosen AC belt tensioner and spin idler by hand. If noisy or "gritty" feel = bad bearing. Also possible to use, very carefully!, the long screwdriver stethoscope trick and listen to it while running. This obviously involves careful approach and long hair pinned back!

Greased the drivetrain. First time for me. Everything seemed in pretty reasonable shape!
