    I had the same issue with the VA Bob. Wife was working full time first time I applied and that put me way over. The second time, she was only working part time but with what we were bringing in together they said it was too much :confused:. I'll try again in another year.

    :pccoffee: Good morning.
    Same here. Guess it is our reward for working hard and being what they call a highly compensated employee, the government says take care of yourself, your not our problem even if we caused it :rolleyes:

    The guys I hunt with in SD are all retired officers from the Navy and Air Force. They have said that hearing aides are covered by the VA if you worked in a high noise area no matter how much you make. And they cost about $5k a set. I worked in double hearing protection areas for 20 years. Even though they conveniently lost my base line audiogram from 76 I want my damn hearing aides. When I need them, which isn't yet. WHAT DID YOU SAY?!

    @gugman , @johneman , @Cold Iron http://www.blogs.va.gov/VAntage/181...th-as-veteran-health-care-eligibility-factor/ Your income only matters about care not being compensated .

    https://www.blogs.va.gov/VAntage/586/busting-myths-about-va-health-care/
    https://www.asbestos.com/blog/2012/05/17/va-disability-compensation/

    Guys you earned this as long as your not collecting a Mil pension it matters not even a 0% rating just means they own it and any issues that arrive from what they broke. The mil pension only matters as the Concurrent receipt law as it stands now is if you are less then 50 % you have to forfeit either the va money or the equivalent amount of your mil pension the latter being the better choice as the VA money is not taxable . Unless your state does not tax military pensions then it is a wash.
    Over 50 % you get to keep both.

    Unfortunately no , the first problem still exists the Range master and departmental rules and policies. The second problem is we train to use a pistol with either hand strong hand mainly but we do weak hand drills also so smacking the magazine is done with both hands. Good thought though.

    The rules are set by.. wait for it..... Lawyers and case law. Defense attorneys first attack the officers training and certifications where, when how by whom. Secondly they attack the trainers training /certifications / qualifications . Third they go after the policies and procedures of the agency's weapon use , use of force policy etc. What they want is to make the agency responsible as they have deeper pockets then any officer will ever have. A lot of agencies used to issue expert marksman badges most have stopped as they are attacked by attorneys "Officer aren't you qualified as an expert / expert marksman" (They already know as they have your records in their hand) you answer yes . His follow up question "Officer since you are qualified as an expert / expert marksman why is it you did not just shoot his leg to stop him running and not shoot him in the back" see where this is going...

    What this has caused is weapons are not to be customized to an officer as the lawyers will attack the customization saying it caused the officer to erroneously shoot or vice versa the officer has a customized weapon why did he not just shoot the subject in the leg, arm, shoulder etc . Only special groups can modify their weapons but even those are limited in what can be done. Unlike the movies and TV shows where I constantly see actors portraying law enforcement people with different weapons from the same department or customized to look "cool" or using different ammunition. Departments can and will allow different weapons specifically aimed at smaller framed similar caliber weapons for women , detectives, Undercover folks but they all are trained the same way. Some departments even go so far as to require you to be trained and certified with back up weapons and holster systems. If you pulled 25 officers issued the same weapon and emptied them you would find the same amount and type of ammo in each weapon and mag. Moreover

    Mine for instance requires me to be certified with the standard on the hip holster for .38 , .40 along with the drop leg holster for the .40, 12 Ga slug and buck. ruger mini14 .223, Sig Sauer 556 With optics and with out know the operation of the 37mm gas gun and the 7 types of canisters and their properties. And that is just guns, we also certify for stun guns, stun shield, stun belt, pepper spray two types and understand the other types used in pepper ball gun etc, ASP, 36" riot baton etc. All of which have rules of where, when and how to use.

    Funny story in the academy you could tell everyone who was military trained for hand to hand fighting lol How you might ask well when using the 36 inch riot batons most of us were yelled at cause .. " YOU CAN NOT BUTT STROKE A PERSONS HEAD ! lol almost every one of us did it out of muscle memory block the guy swinging what ever forward strike to the solar plexus and as they bent but stroke to the side of the head. Yes the bad guy actors where fully padded and helmeted so no real harm was done . Just funny when the instructors figured out who was military trained they put us all in one group to "Un-train" us from that and a few other things lol

    There is no "weak side" only other side

    Try rolling the gun in a bit to counteract the torque, I used to run those drills as well. You don't have to go full gangsta just 5deg will help.

    Just using their terms lol have heard them hollered for ever. I have to go to my range with my personal weapon and see what I can do adjust grip a little to place the back strap in a slightly different spot what Is happening is the back strap bottom rounded edge is driving right into the scar they are not light touch tender but putting my weight on them or smacking things like say a jar bottom or something yeah I get some moderate lightening bolts for a second. And since we do and I have always shot with both hands together and then separately it is not my aim is just about as good left or right handed. The failure drills were ok snapping from CM to Magic Triangle the wrist did not bother me . Holding at low ready for EVER cause of a non shooter at the far end of the line !!! did not make my shoulder happy .Ever friggin set it was hold ... special attention to non shooter ..continue lol I was so tempted to ask can we just go and you can let them do the course by themselves and you can address her problems with out us hearing it.. Figured might work you know that whole kinder gentler thing lol

    They really couldn't do it but they did manage to get us to not use "illegal" strikes and methods of disarming and or using the attackers weapon on them . The way it works is you have to meet force with like force . Guy has anything that can cause death , permanent injury / maiming all bets are off and creative report writing 101 comes in. If they don't you are not allowed to use strikes that are likely to cause death or permanent injury. I do not make the rules just have to live by them. If you attack me I do not like the idea of just hopefully putting you out of commission I want to be sure so you do not get back up and come at me from behind.

    Theses guys want me to do a baseline so they can monitor me. I figure if I lose any hearing off this basline it would give them reason to shitcan me so I'm not doing it.

    I'm over 50, I had been in the military for 20 years and have been an equipment operator for 35 + years. Do they not think I have hearing loss now??
