Stopped by Axleboy on my way home from work yesterday for a quote for an OME front leveling set up. Guy was trying to talk me into a cheaper Readylift block lift.

Are you only lifting the front? If so run and run quick, that is outrageous.

That's too much. At most labor should be ~$250-$300, unless that also includes an alignment.

I'm sure there are other members around STL that are willing to install a lift for the price of beer, and then you can learn too. It's not a hard job.

Yeah, plan was just to level it out initially. Plus I'm more comfortable working on the rear myself should I change my mind and lift the back too.

1300!?!?!?! Holy shit!!!! Dude get you some bilstein 5100. Rockauto has them for 103 for the front each and 76 for the rear each. Then get you some ome 885 or similar spring and they run about 190 for a set of springs. Comes out to about 550 before shopping cost... That saves you roughly 300 just in parts alone. And install of those are cake man. Tons of write ups out there and YouTube videos of it. If you've got a decent set of metric sockets and wrenches you can do it on a Saturday. That will save ya another 423. That 1300 could be spent more wisely but it's not my money or truck. This was just a suggestion. I should have my bilstein 5100 in the next couple week's. I had to be very budget conscious so I'm going to stay with my stock cool springs for now until I can drop the additional 200 on ome springs. Also did not do an aal rear so mine is technically a leveling kit.

Would be a good deal for front and rear.

Not so much for $450 worth of parts and 30 minutes of install time.

Thanks for the input man. I actually went in to the shop requesting 5100's but the dude recommended going full OME. If I was a little more ballsy/didn't have to worry about driving to work in it everyday I'd attempt to do it myself for sure. I just don't like the pressure of needed to get it done.

I would see if any folks in your area would help that have done it before. It's only a hour job to install already assembled front coilovers.

If you need a little comfort and have the aptitude to do it yourself..... if the project goes a little long, you can always rent a car for a few days to finish the job if need be.

I would reach out to the STL region and atleast ask about anyone local. Hell you might even find that someone is selling some good stuff for cheap at the same time. I understand time wise, but when you are working with some knowledgeable folks like the members on here, you would be surprised how fast this could get done and its a good way to break the ice on some basic install and understanding of your suspension.

It's really easy to install coilovers. Even more so if they're assembled already.

I can understand that. Well do your research on parts and ask around who would be willing to install them if you buy the parts yourself. $1300 is outrageous for just a front leveling kit. I got lucky and bought all my stuff from a guy on here for $320 and installing it myself. I hate to see people get ripped off like that.

I second this. Hell... you'd be surprised how far offering up a case of beer would go in getting a member to help you out locally!!!

Also a great way to get cool with your local bretheren! I know when I first started modding and getting my hands dirty, I would get nervous cause my truck is my DD as well. After I installed my first coilovers, you realize your truck is a box of metal parts where 90% of it is bolted together. Also, the Tacoma has been engineered to be worked on by the common man unlike say a Mercedes or a BMW where they expect you wont have the proprietary tools. Now a days, I look forward to helping someone out on stuff like this. Its easy to do, and its always worth it to see the person get pumped about their ride after.
