Agree with @JayRolla 100% need an afr gage.

Welp, failed CO emissions twice for NOX. First time I pretty much went in on the tune the truck has been running, down to 10 psi though and split my tank 50/50 with gas/e85 to try and tone down the scent. Was 4.1 out of 2.0 for NOX. Disconnected my charge pipes just after the IC and went back. NOX was down to 3.5, still failing by a large margin, but everything else went up. CO doubled, but only NOX failed yet again.

I'm thinking my cat is garbage since it was a cheap, high flow variety so I ordered a vibrant and made sure it specified "3-way." I do not have the stock cat and my truck does not have EGR. Does anyone know if the OEM spec cat on this type of engine is some type of super-cat? Going to probably run an even higher e85 ratio as well and still keep the charge pipes off, I don't think any of the people I saw working in there would call me out over the smell. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Just to reiterate, my NOX was nearly double the maximum allowable even on the basically stock, 0-boost tune running 50% e85. Pretty much everything on the engine is up to date. Seafoamed the cylinders about a year ago. Gotta be the cat right?

I got a nox problem too. Everything else is super low. Make sure your egr is working well. That is what will cool down your gas temps. I run a ca specific cat that aftermarket. Afraid I might need to get a Toyota one. First I'm going to try to get my egr to flow more.

Vibrant, if I recall correctly sells a metal core 50 state legal cat. That, or one from Magnaflow is what you want. Install it with flanges on it, so that you can swap it out easily.

I think the one I have now is flowmaster or magnaflow. I've read that often the cheap universal cats are only 2-way cats which don't have any agents for NOX emissions so I'm hoping that's what's going on in my case :fingerscrossed:

Dont say AFR gauge. Might trick the kids into buying an autometer AFR gauge that does nothing but flash.

WBO2 gauge is what you want.

Me too, but I use e85, speed density and o2 simulation also. HA!

Does e85 also help with nox?

    From google

"The differences of average E85 versus gasoline emission rates for all vehicle models are -22% for CO, 12% for HC, and -8% for NOx emissions, which imply that replacing gasoline with E85 reduces CO emissions, may moderately decrease NOx tailpipeemissions, and may increase HC tailpipe emissions."

My Turbo talon could never pass emissions. Actually paid it off a few times. Went e85 and passed everytime. Even being stuck in open loop. HA.

I can't run my piggyback so hopefully a gallon of e85 does it. I'm right on the border.

I have to go 100% stock for mine. All sensors checked in. Do a dyno run at 15 and 25mph with a sensor in the tail pipe. It's rough.

Good ole Cali emissions. :annoyed: I have heard of people using acetone and Isopropyl. Might as well pour Everclear to top off the cocktail. Full ABV Everclear from another state. Lol.

As long as mine has no CELs, and I have a cat in place, mine passes. Thus the quick change cat.

it almost seems like the charge of boost struggles to charge up (more throttle) and discharges quicker compared to before all this started. Before i put in too much racing fuel and messed up the o2 sensor i didn't have this hesitation. All that was changed since then was the fuel pump and o2 sensor. Probably would be a whole lot easier to diagnose with the WB but i think ill check again for leaks
