Premium Audio Upgrade for less than $250

Be careful on these... when you roll the window all the way down, it comes very close to the magnet on the rear of the speaker. There is not much room behind the speaker, so this may hit the window when it is all the way down.

 

you can install speaker spacers. If you buy a Rockford fosgate set of speakers, they come with the spacers already to mount.

I got them online.. Can't remember if it was from Amazon or eBay but it was around $80ish

 

Ebay was best price I could find, think I paid $87 for them.

According to the CF guy, these slim line ones are what's compatible for us so hopefully that's accurate.

Same here. I trust everyone here but...I ordered a Kicker Hideaway just in case. I know myself and I know I won't feel like working on it again to add bass.

 

My second gen base trim had better sound than my 2016 entune premium.. have to say not much premium about it..

Ok, just placed my order with crutchfield. Now to somehow sweet talk the wife into ordering the tweeters. As I was placing the order, she asked, what about the pro grille? I said, "I'm still looking for a good deal hun"...

I couldn't say, oh, "i need to order tweeters from Amazon too". I'm feeling guilty already because she never splurges... She just threw me a surprise 40th bday party too... Wife of the year!

 

That's the route I'm considering as well. Just trying to decide if that's going to add enough bass or if I want to go with a a Kicker CompRT box with a separate amp.

 

Do you have the OEM head unit connected to these? I'm thinking about just replacing the door speakers, as the OP has, however, I do not have the premium unit. Curious to see if it's even worth it.

 

Placed order for the tweeters. I'll do the others later. $100 at a time.
Proud of myself for holding off on the others... until Crutchfield's next sale..

 

Thanks for this - not really having the rattling issues, but I know sound deadening always improves definition and will help with road noise as well but didn't want to drop the cash on Dynamat. If this works 50% as well for a fraction of the cost - I'm in.
