Good morning! I just recently purchased a 2013 DCSB and I'm in the market for a toolbox. I was hoping that some of you can tell me which ones you are using so that I can get a good idea on what's available. Bonus points if you have a tonneau cover that goes in front of the box.

I do not have a DC, but an access cab, 2013. I was concerned about the standard 22" box taking up too much bed room. I shopped 8 different stores, lot of web sites. Really wanted a WeatherCraft but did not come in a 12" width, or low profile. Finally decided on a Kobalt from Lowes. It has a lifetime no questions warranty, was only about $160, is light weight. I got the low profile (sticks up only an inch or 2 above the bed, rather than 3 to 4"), is only 12 inches wide. Depth is about the same as all other compact truck bed boxes. It has a single door, and not a very strong lock assembly, and only one center pneumatic cartridge as opposed to 2 on some of the better brands. Positives are it is compact, keeps the stuff that would be in the cab isolated, light weight, great warranty. Negatives is that it is lightweight, not real strong locking devices. Not being a contractor I use it for dog stuff, a blanket, jacket, tool pouch, jumper cables, 4 way lug wrench, frizbee, ratchet straps, the bed cletes, bungees, a few hand tools, etc. I access it 3 to 4 times a week...
Having it 4 years it has done exactly what I bot it for, held up very well under light weight use, and i really like the size.....would highly recommend it to a light weight user......if you need contractor quality get a WeatherCraft, they may have the narrow, low profile ones by now

The Swing Cases are not for extreme contractor use. They are removable if you need the space, the box locks and you can lock the box to the bed so it can not be removed. I've been very pleased so far.

Too poor to list anything interesting.
I store all of my stuff in behind the passenger seats on two small tool bags.

A toolbox in a short bed makes a short bed even more useless than it already is LOL. Get a 4Runner.

    Helpful post.

Fuck. I better just stop having fun in my short bed truck, and altogether just stop hauling dogs, firewood, skis, camping gear, tools, family, friends, grills, kayaks... This. Thing. Is. Useless.

OP - what do you keep inside the cab? I'm able to squeeze a lot behind the rear seats. Do you need it for tools so they won't be making noise/ beat shit up inside?

But, I don't. Point being that you simply don't know. I'll be here to talk Tacomas or tool boxes when you fall off that completely arbitrary high horse.

This is what I am using: Dee Zee DZ8537B, 37" wide https://www.deezee.com/product/red-label-portable-utility-chests-black/

There have been times I wished I had more bed space, and once I removed it to help a guy move, but I've never regretted it. It sits just below the bedrail height, and there is enough room on either side to allow long and narrow stuff to run the full length of the bed. Sorry, all my pics are on photobucket... I gotta figure out a new way to post them.

just started another thread because I didn't see this one. I'm thinking about buying these. I saw where you said you were pleased with them, any other comments pros cons on them?
Also, could you take some pictures of what the inside looks like?, that's what I'm having trouble finding on the internet.

Those are the only side mount toolboxes that work with bed covers that I know of.

Not a tide fan. They will most likely clip the eagles' wings / declaw the tigers though.

I have an ARE Camper Shell, but I just like how they swing out. I have toolboxes but they end up at the back of the bed. makes it difficult to dig through them. These seem like that would be pretty sweet.

I had the Toyota box. I liked it, but installed a cap and just built something out of plywood.
