Spark Plugs at 30,000?? I bought my truck at 31,400 miles so I'm guessing that most of this wasn't done...

This is my first RWD vehicle... I'm guessing that changing the dif fluid is pretty easy?

depends on the plug tightness. if you do it yourself, do the fill plug first....

WOW!!!! The footnote numbered 6 is kind of scary. So if we don't have proof or have had the dealership change the plugs at 30/60/90/120K our emissions warranty (converters???pumps??) is void?????

Fellow Tacoma owners, help me answer this question. My co-worker came up to me today. She drives a '07 Taco Prerunner 4x4 and was asking me about when to change the plugs, she has 37K and a local shop wanted her to change her plugs. I said yes, they are recommended to be changed at 30K. I already had my '05 done a year or so ago. Pretty soon she came back, and wanted to see my owners manual. I went to my truck and pulled my '05 owners manual out. She pointed out to me that we had factory installed 100K iridium plugs in our trucks, why do we need to replace at 30K. I went blank. All I could really find was what a dealership had in its recommended service intervals. Of course the dealer will try to get a few extra bucks out of us if they can. Is it really 30K or can we get 100K out of these plugs before replacement? My coworker is a single mom and wants to be sure before spending $$ on something she really doesn't need.

Can you ask her if that Prerunner is the 4 cylinder? If so they do have Iridium plugs, The V6 has a mixture of Denso and NKG which do need to be replaced at 30K. She could probably hold off is hers if indeed the 4 banger.

Only the 4 Cylinder has iridium tipped plugs. The 6 cylinder has standard plugs which must be replaced every 30,000 miles

Is there any ready why the V6 engine can't have Iridium plugs? Seems strange to have old school plugs in a newer car. My 03 CLS has Iridium plugs and don't have to be changed for 105k miles. Any one try Iridium in their V6 here?

I would... for warranty purposes if nothing else. I most likely wouldn't take it to a dealership... but finding a good independent mechanic isn't always easy. I have one, but not everyone does...

The general consensus on this forum is to NOT use iridium plugs in the V6. For some reason that engine runs best on the factory standard plugs. I have no idea why.

It's overkill to use Iridium plugs in the 1GRFE unless you have a supercharger in there, I heard stories of people having problems with them without a S/C. Stock Copper Densos from your local dealership will work fineee.
