I used the biggest drill bit I had and drilled multiple holes in the middle of the O. Then i used a round metal file to file the plastic until the center of the O was clean.

Any differences between the "faux" and the oem..

I know the oem sticks out from the grill a bit. Is this the same with the replica? I guess what I'm asking is.. is it literally identical dimensions? So the only difference is it's made in a different manufacturer with different material?

same but its also missing some of the inner supports and the center horizontal parts are thicker. compare the photos carefully... OEM is the top one (bottom is upside down, dunno why)

    Same.

    Several holes.
Used dremel with cutting piece to cut out between drilled holes.
Then used dremel round sander bit to sand down smoothly.

    Frank,

I completely agree about the flush mount its the only thing that has kept me from pulling the trigger. That stick out just doesn't make sense to me.

Thanks for the responses guys but I guess I should have been more clear. I meant the size for the little posts on the back of the letters. I started with a 1/16 which was too small but the 3/32 was the perfect size.

With a 5/64" bit it was nice and snug just like it should be.

Not sure what mine was, but first guess came out about perfect. Easy enough to fit, snug enough where it didn't slide out on it's own when I put the clips on.

Anyone try removing the letters after installing the clips without causing damage?

Ordered mine on the 12th, got a shipping notification email today, got home and it was on the porch. Looks pretty good. I'm going with the FJ emblem too (thanks johnny6) and am psyched! I can see a few small differences with the OEM, but overall a great replica, and can't beat the price.

I did the FJ emblem as well. Couldn't be happier for the price!
