What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

My 04 took 4 - 194's, HVAC took these and glove box, gear shifter, and ashtray all took #74's.

 

your 04 grill will leave you with more room to work with. here are 2 9" arb knock offs.

 

Hmmm I wonder if the pre-01 dashes used the same bulbs. I want to change the lighted ring around the ignition too. Anyone know if they are supposed to stay lit the whole time you drive or if they shut off after the key is turned (mine does this).

 

Exactly what lights did you use? I'm afraid if I use too bright LED's there will be some light bleed

 

my 95.5 had the little 74 style bulb in key ring, ac controls, and shift indicator. key ring light stays on for a set period of time i believe (nvr payed any attention to tbh)

 

Does the dash dimmer switch work when you put new led's in?

 

leds work with the dimmer.

Super easy to wire up mirrors only. You can get everything you need from a 4Runner. Just a matter of 8 wires, 6 for signal 2 for ground and power. Power locks, on the other hand, is a whole other pain in the ass.

Making another retrofit system for a buddy right now. I've narrowed it down to a science, I already drew up all the schematics and did the testing so now it's a breeze. My personal system took me a good 6 months to figure out with a LOT of help. I got this system finished in a little under a week.

 

So what would be the correct size replacement updated bulb? Got most of the interior taken apart - I guess now would be a good time to do that too.

 

I bought a illuminated key ring out of a 4Runner to install in my Tacoma since it didn't come with one and a #74 worked. Not sure about your truck though

I'm pretty sure it would be the same since they shared so many parts. I'm wondering about the dash. Don't know if there was a big difference between the pre-01 and the newer dash - tbh I know nothing about leds.

 

nice truck. Sucks your selling. Kinda high price for the miles. But in CO i can't imagine it being an issue.

 

Threw on some tracks and cross bars. Now to find a thin cargo box...

 

Thank you for that, when I posted this was thinking about what you'd think! It is high, but I know that it won't sell for that so more wiggle room! And the tent itself is a big one, had to figure that into total cost!!

 

Installed an

$10 iJDMTOY 3-Pin CF14 EP35 Electronic LED Flasher Relay As LED Related Turn Signal Bulbs Hyper Flash Fix

LED Flasher module from Amazon. It put my blinker rate back down to about 82/minute which is the same as OEM. I was running a modified OEM module with the resistor hoop ground down which had me at 112/min.



Just 30s of blinking. Don't watch it all

 

yeah. Just remember mods don't always add value. The tent is worth something no doubt. But the rest isn't typically. Again though your in CO so that stuff is seen as a big plus. Im sure you'll get around 10-11 for it.
