And in a state of barely 5 million, with one of the largest land mass in the country, that's still a drop in the bucket. My home state of FL went from 12 million when we moved to over 19 million by the time I left. Currently FL has over 21 million and counting.

CA has 55 million, now that's crowded.

That's very misleading though. There is only a small percentage of land that can be lived on. It's tough to plow a driveway at 14,000 feet.

And you think that all of CA or FL can be built on? CA has peaks, desserts and other seriously unihabitable areas. Florida has swamps, that will scare the crap out of must people. And yet still, FL with half the CO land mass, still has 4 times of CO population.

The problem is that most of the jobs, and the support system are spread in between Ft. Collins and Pueblo.

Actually I didn't think that at all. I'm well aware of what little Florida has to offer and the people that migrate from there.

"What little has to offer, and the people that move from there." Sounds like your level of ignorance keeps expanding more and more. Great job, next thing you know your ignorance level will match your innacurate statements!

I'm sure it's lovely, but the only time I plan on seeing Florida again is when I get shitfaced in Miami before I get on a cruise ship.

I guess you misunderstood. I assumed you left Florida for a better life.

Maybe you should spend some time in the B.S. thread, as you are really coming across as an ignorant ass. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/colorado-b-s-thread.131441/page-6642#post-16049113

I did not mean to get anybody pissed off. My apologies. But we really do have limited space here, not trying to keep anybody out. We all moved from somewhere.
We get so many of the stereotypical responses here from new people moving in that it really is a sore point with those of us who live here and accept Colorado for what it is.
We don't give a goddamn how you did things in your home state.

If your home state was so great, why did you leave?
If it was due to overpopulation, than you should also be able to see our point of view as you drag your family and friends here and increase our population.

    Arkansas sucks, don't come here.

Plenty of pro-gun folks near CO Springs, lot of veterans live here so you won't be out of place.
But, you probably won't get a whole lot of land near Woodland Park without paying a pretty penny. That area's getting populated. You're probably best off finding something on the western side of the state. I-25 corridor (Denver-CO Springs-Pueblo) is filling up fast.

I'm no engineer, but can't we just eat the desserts to make more room? Or can't we make areas bihabitable or trihabitable? Or at least, less serious?

Not trying to reopen a wound here, but here are a few reasons I am looking to move out west from Florida:
    1) Its 100 degrees with 100% humidity 9 months of the year
    2) Florida man is lurking around every corner
    3) We have mosquito's that resemble dinosaurs
    4) For those of you that love hiking, camping and outdoor stuff, you can hike in flat sand, or flat swamp. Take your pick!
    5) Don't even get me started with hurricanes
    6) You guys talk about crowds, have you ever lived near Disney?

In all seriousness, I know the overcrowding is a serious issue out there. And no mater what I say you wont be happy about me adding another person to your state. But at least know that not everyone moving is looking to change Colorado to California.

still my question why Colorado? why not Montana Wyoming Idaho Nevada, Utah New Mexico. These are all cool states as well. Your welcome to move her as well just don't be a dick and stay the trail always. But why CO and not other places? if my parents and wife's parents and my entire life was not already here in Colorado i would have moved away but i enjoy my family to do that. Idaho seems really cool.

We are not 100% sold on Colorado. We plan to do a several month road trip next year to feel out a few different places. Most of it comes down to jobs. Colorado has a several large cities with plenty of job opportunities that are still reasonably close to good outdoor recreation. I am a CPA so I need someplace with a semi large financial center. There isn't a whole lot of that in Montana and Wyoming. Not saying it doesn't exist, but it would be harder to find. I have really close friends that live in Idaho and love it. So that's high up on the list along with Utah.

But to overall answer your question, from an outsider Colorado seems to check every box that I look for. Lots of jobs, beautiful mountains, skiing, biking, climbing, hiking, etc, and milder winters compared to Idaho Wyoming and Montana.

thank you for your answer. makes complete sense. if you do move learn to avoid 170 and learn all the back roads. get good off road lights because you will be looking for a camp site in the dark, and if you love to ski learn to sleep in the truck to once again avoid i 70 and still get first chair.
