Brake system's

I found out the 2017 tacomas have two brake systems.

Hydraulic

Vacuum

This is after my brakes locked up at the car wash and the taco was towed to the shop.

They replaced master cylinder and abs module.

Note the vacuum assist gives a mushy pedal and the pedal still goes down after these parts have replaced.

Mechanic found out by checking other tacos on lot.

Please let me know if this correct.

The two off roads loaners had the hydraulic brake systems.

 

The OR model comes complete with a buzzy, annoying brake system that feels a bit like you are stepping on a cell phone that's on vibrate mode.

You can induce the buzzing by pumping the brakes. On the last few pumps you'll feel something actuate and the pump for the accumulator kicks on causing a buzzing.

It shouldn't be buzzing too harshly or frequently. I had my whole system replaced because it was acting up and that help tremendously.

Why did toyota tech support not tell the wrench this

 

that must have been a tremendous cost to replace the the whole system, do you have the hydraulic or vacuum system?

 

I may have misspoken. I'll have to go dig through the paperwork to see exactly what they replaced.i want to say brake booster, pump and something else. I have whatever one is in the OR.. hydraulic I believe.

Regardless, I didn't pay for it. Toyota did.

The system was eating brake fluid at one point.

The picture shows the booster or vacuum pump.

I still dont why the have two types.of brake systems.

I do know the fucking truck brakes locked up at the car wash in front of three people and it was towed to the shop.

Yes i am sure it was expensive, and i have warranty

Your truck ia a off road so if i understand correctly and that is what i was told you have a hydraulic system which i drove 5 weeks during this brake situation.

My trd sport has a vacuum system and yes i need to read the manuel and see what toyota had to say.

I think the off road has the different aystem to support the crawler feature.
Sorry i am not using the correct terms for each system but i think i am making some sense lol.

There are 2 different systems based on the models, OR and Pro get the electro/mechanical unit because it is used to control the ATRAC and or Crawl Control systems, all the others models use the traditional style vacuum boosters.

The only i cant understand why when i put my foot on rhe brake it still goes almost to the floor.
Was told this is normal.at idle.

Well i am not insane. I had a buddy jump in the Taco and sure enough we got bleed down still. I do have this part of the changes the dealership made and the TAS directions .... Also have TAS case #

All i can say is this shit did not HAPPEN before the rear seal recall.

 

All brakes are hydraulic and use vacuum (power) to assist the pedal by amplifying the cylinders pistons pressure. It's been that way for a long time now.

Now; the TRD OR uses that system plus an electro mechanical system.

Have them check the rear brakes and make sure they are adjusted/working properly. If they aren't you will get long pedal travel.
