Installed tweaters yesterday, good improvment and easy.

Didn't remove A pillars but noticed that I scratched the A pillar while removing the tweater cover. Would recommend to place some masking tape on the A pillar where it butts to the cover to minimize scratching.

Better off just spending the extra 3 minutes and remove the a pillar covers.

Really glad to hear all that!
I just got the Subaru tweeters off Amazon ($96) and the Crutchfield speakers buy one get the other for 1/2 off front and rear with all the adapters and wiring for a grand total of $134! Last night.
So for ~$234 versus the ~$700 I would have spent for the JBL premium upgrade....happy!
My QS truck coming Sept 28.
Thanks to all for all the info too!

Hey its not rocket science. You can put the extra $500 into that space ship you are building for the next flood event.

When do you think you are installing this? Since you will have had the speakers with and without the sound deadening I'd really like to hear your opinion on whether or not it's worth the $/time/hassle before I order it if possible. :D

All depends on timing... on baby watch so could be this week, could be 3 weeks ;) not that big of a hassle to take the doors apart again though. mine shipped today. More than anything I see this as a cheap solution to reduce road noise. But I'm sure a little more insulation will help with sound definition as well but it's already damn good

Really sad to see that video. Makes you appreciate things a whole lot more. I am only 1/2 block off the river but my house is up hill 25' from the street level. We are always vulnerable here during hurricane season. When Isabell came through a few years ago the ground was already saturated and 80' to 100' tall pines were falling all around me. Got real lucky in my yard. My father had around 6 laying 45° over his house. What was bad was taking the boat out and seeing private pier parts floating in the waters. I always carried a spare propellor and caught a log on one trip. Hope your area has a speedy recovery.

I listen to the focals in a 2017 dcsb that my local stereo shop was doing a build on. Sounds pretty darn close to me as the Kickers, and the focals are $299 a pair.

Wanted to say thanks to mrproduxn. It was his post that got me on this. I was so close to laying out the $$ on the 450Q system.

I saw a 10" Alpine "restyle" in a 2017 off-road. That system is crazy. It replaces the premium head unit. It does everything the premium head unit does, steering wheel controls, much better navigation, back up camera, all of it.
Plus it lets you add a front camera, you can watch both front and back cameras with touch of a button, activates aux lighting, controls your winch, gives your remaining fuel in your tank in percentages, monitors your TPMS, can control your air compressor, reads error codes thrown by the engine and lets you reset, you can even tie it in to Direct TV and your passengers can watch TV.
If you have to ask its $3800 installed with all the bells and whistles.

Thats why I chose Kickers. They kick butt for a bargain price. The ones I bought had 2200 reviews and 95% were 5 stars. After a couple of months I also give them 5 stars.

I honestly have never paid attention to the Kicker brand until the Subaru tweeters but it seems these speakers were indeed designed with factory HU in mind. But I am definitely a fan - and thanks for your input that initially helped much ME over the edge!

Pro tip: one thing our HU definitely lacks in is sound reproduction for XM satellite - part of it is just limitation of the signal but on a standalone XM unit I used to have it did do some more post processing to improve the quality more than our HU. These speakers will definitely drastically improve that sound but won't touch the capability of the speakers. If you have an unlimited plan, I suggest listening to XM from your phone - through Bluetooth or USB. Night and day.

Did the question ever get answered if this setup works just as well with the SR/SR5 Head Unit? I'm wondering if the SR/SR5 HU provides the same kind of power output to where I wouldn't need an aftermarket Amp. If so, I'm in for this system!

Haven't seen it answered yet - need someone to test it and report back. I can only speak to the 7" premium HU

The size of a woofer. The power of a tweeter. The magnet and weight of a piss-ant. It's a Toyota wooter. Look at the huge magnet compared to a 7/8" socket. This is stock TRD front door speaker power.

If the DollarTree sold car speakers they would be better than these.
